I actually had to stop playing so I could come here and write this.  I'm not really even active on the forums and frankly don't care much about a social network.  :)  So you know I was moved.

Wynne is one of the best characters I've ever encountered in a game.  Kudos to Bioware and their writers.  In my opinion, she breaks a lot of cliches.  She also has no Hollywood-style "catches" to her character.  She just is what she is, and she's my absolute favorite for it.  She has no sex appeal (unless you like older ladies!), which is something Morigan and Leliana have in spades, yet Wynne is, still, my absolute favorite.

You don't see a lot of "old" folks in games (she's older than Duncan, I take it, Duncan being maybe 50, Wynne being maybe 60-70), but it's done so extremely well here.  I find myself absolutely hanging on her words.  I don't "escape" through the dialogue as quickly as I can read it.  I listen, enrapt (kudos to her voice actress, too, but it's the writing, not just the acting), even getting teary-eyed.

I play video games to escape, to experience other worlds, but, once in a while, a video game teaches me something about this world, too, and teaches me something about myself, even advances me spiritually.

All the characters in this game are fantastic, but Wynne stands out for both her kindness and wisdom and for her less gentle (though not the cliched "she used to be a killer!!" kind of) past.

Thanks, Bioware.  It is not often that I connect with a video game character on this level, and it has NEVER been with a female senior citizen.

(Now, if you could just do something about the frantic, maddening combat. :P  It's a good thing I like Wynne, because I can't even survive normal difficulty without her!)

I'm jumping on your bandwagon! Wynne is absolutely my favorite character, too. I'm on my second playthru and I'm trying to play an evil mage and I am having dramatically less fun without Wynne. Some of her banters are absolutely priceless, too. I wish the art had made her a little uglier/older looking because I really found her character interactions a lot more attractive than Leli or Morrigan.  I'm almost waiting for a Wynne romance mod!  LOL (But, I still <3 Leli. =P)

There's a lack of discussion of her orientation in these forums as opposed to Morrigan/Leliana who disapproves when you perform acts of goodwill/malice respectively, which has been clearly talked about in these forums due to the popularity of those two.

Therefore, I'm curious as to what her orientation actually is and if that said orientation increases the character's likeability factor in your eyes.

She's great as healer, but I actually find her somewhat annoying and preachy at times when conversing with her.

Just cause there's a connection with the character doesn't automatically mean the highest possibility is that you have stuff in common.

I connect to lotsa other unrelevant/unrelated (to me) people mostly due to factors like respect for their personality, intrigued by their behaviour, love of their humour, etc.

"She has no sex appeal"

What?! Her body looks the same as Leliana's or Morrigan's.

Also she doesn't look that old.

From a personality point of view I really liked brining her along and talking to her. She just radiates wisdom and knowledge.

She's more than an old woman! Come on people. Didn't you talk to her in camp?

Wynne is awesome.  She is funny and wise, although some of her wisdom grated on me in that there wasn't any option to say, "yeah, I already figured that out, thanks," because I'm a pretty wise person myself.

Wynne is pretty great. It's really nice to see an older female character portrayed as a strong and interesting person. Generally with media, and I'm thinking about television in this case, females are given very little leeway with being older/unattractive (and too often these two things are considered synonymous). Older women are either non-existent or are portrayed as shrews or useless jokes, with few exceptions.

She's often motherly with my character, vital in many of the tougher combats I've done so far, and I find her personal storyline intriguing.

Personally she bored me to death... less interesting character for me... even the dog beat her... but personal opinion

Consider me a member of the Wynne fanclub, as well.

She is a refreshing change of pace from most characters I've encountered in Bioware games. It's interesting to play a game of this nature where one of the companions is not particularly needy, where the main character doesn't necessarily need to assuage or steer them. It's nice to have the option of bringing along a companion who starts the game in a more stable position, able to offer support and wisdom to the main character, instead of the other way around.

She's quite endearing, and it's a pleasure to see a character with noble traits representing a segment of the population that isn't often portrayed in such a positive light in most games.

Yes, this is all well and good, but. Why does she run out of manna so quickly? Not sure if I've set her up incorrectly, but, she will cast maybe two healing spells and thats it manna is all gone...

I really don't have a MILF fetish or anything.

She's just really fun to talk to. You can poke fun at her and she pokes fun back - without getting pissy. There's even a dialogue where you can tell her she's full of **** and she's like "Yeah. I agree."

I just loved Wynne! She's provided me with more LOL moments in camp than anyone save Oghren. (And Wynne's banters with Oghren are AMAZING. I would have never figured out the wine gift if I hadn't brought her along to the Deep Roads).

I must admit, some of the banter between her and Alistair over both his socks and shirts did make me crack up.
