Consider me a member of the Wynne fanclub, as well.

She is a refreshing change of pace from most characters I've encountered in Bioware games. It's interesting to play a game of this nature where one of the companions is not particularly needy, where the main character doesn't necessarily need to assuage or steer them. It's nice to have the option of bringing along a companion who starts the game in a more stable position, able to offer support and wisdom to the main character, instead of the other way around.

THAT'S IT!

That's what I find so appealing about Wynne.  She's NOT a head-case!  Morrigan's a sociopath and Leli's french.  IRL, I'd choose Wynne over either of them! (Although I still <3 Leli.  =D)

Edit: As per mana, it's Rejuvenate and the Heroics that eat up all her mana.  HD is okay (if targeted to certain occasions), but Rejuv and Mass Rejuv are freaking worthless.  It'd be something it they refilled the stam bars half-way or something, but bleh.

AFAIK - and trying to avoid spoilers - we never actually ascertain if she does have grandkids or not. The age certainly makes it possible... LOL

So who's starting the Wynne fan club group? I'll join.

I prefer wisdom and maturity, and was really hoping for a Romance option.

Most people just don't grow up. (coming from a person hoping for a romance with a fantasy character LOL)

Well, I think Bioware took a risk in creating a "boring" character like Wynne. I can understand why some folks would find her preachy or uninteresting (although I frankly think you're missing out), and I think that's why she's risky.

But what really pleases me is to see that other people like her as much as I do. I wasn't necessarily expecting that, and I'm really happy!

And no, I'm not an old woman. Ha. I'm a 28 year-old male, but I do happen to have a lot in common with Wynne, at least mentally, meaning a lot of her wisdom struck a chord with me. I agree with the fellow above who would have wanted more conversation options with her; often I'd have been happy to choose something like, "That's so true..." in reply to her dialogue.

Had no idea Duncan's actor was in his 70s! Very cool. I bet Wynne's is actually younger.

One area where Bioware didn't take as many risks is in her appearance. If you didn't pay attention to the dialog, it would be easy to assume she was much younger. She doesn't look very old at all (and, as someone pointed out, shares the same basic body type as the rest of the gals).

I took her in my party when I played my elf mage, and I loved it. Having a wise, compassionate fellow mage in the party did wonders for my PC's grip on sanity. After going through all the potentially heartbreaking events of the story Wynne's support might have been what kept my mage from finally jumping off the crazy boat and just attempting to Inferno everyone around her.

Like others have said, I find her relative emotional stability a welcome change from the usual cast. She's very realistic in terms of attitudes and her past, how being older and a mage have colored her perceptions of the world. That, and her more grandmotherly moments make me feel warm and gooey inside.

That's really cool. That made me want to replay the game as a mage.

Wynne is IMO the ultimate female NPC EVER created.

Kudos Sheryl.

Wynne is wonderful! I love her so. She really doesn't look as old as the game seems to assert. If I could romance her, I would. Morrigan and Leliana just don't do it for me. I think there was a lot of room for her to fall into the stereotype of disapproving old woman, but the fantastic Bioware writers dodged that without making her batcrap insane, which I liked. Kreia was probably the best character in KotOR 2 for me, as well. She was one evil lady. <3

Yes, this is all well and good, but. Why does she run out of manna so quickly? Not sure if I've set her up incorrectly, but, she will cast maybe two healing spells and thats it manna is all gone...

are you using haste? this drains mana fairly quickly.  also haste reserves about 30% of your mana pool (at least for me).

I think Wynne was an awesome character, too. Very wise, with a strong sense of justice and some hard-won common sense to boot. She gives me warm fuzzies.

I just wish I could hook Alistair and Wynne up together. He seems to really like her in the PC dialogs, and since I'm not going to romance him, someone in the camp should.

Okay, at some point I'll have to make a character to romance him for the romance unlock. (I was a serious badge-**** in City of Heroes and Villains)

Alistair: "Pretend you're a woman"

Wynne: " That shouldn't be too difficult. I am a woman"

Isn't Duncan 400+ years old in this game? He talks about being around for the previous Blight which was like 4 ages ago....idk didn't really pay attention too much to all the lore and stuff.....

She is not completely boring but for me definately one of the less interesting characters. Plays in a league with Leliana I would say.

I took her along for some time and directly compared to Morrigan she just seems bleak. I am not talking exclusivel about the nature of her character here. The character writing in this game is amazing, period. But I feel for her to really shine she just has too much better fleshed out competition with some truly outstanding characters in this game(Alistair, Morrigan, Shale and Zhevran mainly).
