She has no sex appeal (unless you like older ladies!), which is something Morigan and Leliana have in spades, yet Wynne is, still, my absolute favorite.

She has the tightest body of an old woman i've ever seen tbh.

I love the variety of characters in this game. It's very real.

I don't think Wynne is that old, actually. Have you heard her banter with Leliana? She talks about having had her first apprentice when she was Leliana's age and having had *two decades* to mature since. That would make her what, 45?

She's not bad, but Jolee was much more amusing.

Who was Wynne's main writer? I want to give her/him major kudos for this character, and to her voice actress too.

Really, I love Wynne to pieces. I had high hopes for her based on her character page, and if anything these hopes were not only met, but exceeded. She's utterly awesome, one of my favourite NPCs ever. "Boring"? Maybe to those who favor "cool" freaks. I don't. I like "wise older mentor" types, characters with compassion, kindness and inner strength, which Wynne has in spades. She is content, fearless and has nothing to prove. She is her own woman, not some needy damsel or ruled by "dark secrets" or base obsessions. And she is trustworthy which is priceless in a setting where intrigue and treachery abound. I feel my PC could talk to her about anything (sworn Grey Warden secrets aside), whether it's to have a cry on her shoulder, or rant and scream, or just have a quiet conversation under the stars. She'd never use or abuse you for her own means, for power, for sex, for whatever.

You don't have to "fix" her or reassure her or play shrink -- which is not only refreshing, but also made it all the more satisfying to me when I could do her a favor. In fact it's awesome to have a party member who clearly cares about you, asks how you're doing and will listen and offer advice gladly.

And on top of everything else, she has a sense of humor! She can poke fun at herself and knows she is not and never was perfect. I first knew I loved her and that she would not disappoint me when (hope this very minor conversation spoiler is okay), upon being asked if she's up for helping me in the Circle Tower, she said she was still fit enough to bend "them" over her knee for a spanking. And the griffon thing, yes, that was amusing too.

I'm really delighted with and grateful for this character. Definitely a high point of the game. And I'm especially delighted to see a woman in the "older mentor" role because it's damn refreshing to have a female party member who is NOT young, Barbie-fied and "available". We need more variety among female NPCs and Wynne is a wonderful step in the right direction.

<3 Wynne!

She's so very calm. It's what made me appreciate the character so much.

I like Wynne as well. I think Bioware's writer is again challenging our biases by providing a wizened female mage. Nobody has any problem with Gandalf being a wizened male mage. Many things about DAO is surprising.

Wynne is awesome. My current (and still first! heh) play-through has my toon constantly accompanied by Alistair, Morrigan, and Wynne. I love what these characters have to say throughout the game.

Wynne has a gentle, wise way about her, that plays out as the perfect support and guidance for my current character.

Agreed completely! It IS refreshing to have an older, experienced character be a prominent member of the team, and not only a band of young hot-blooded adventurers hacking their way through quests.

I must admit, some of the banter between her and Alistair over both his socks and shirts did make me crack up.

If you get a chance get her and the dwarf together and it some of the funniest conversations i have heard in game.

I like Wynne, too.

Although, I have to admit that I laughed out loud when my evil character mashed her face into a cloud of gore with his shield. I mean jeez.

Sheryl Chee wrote Wynne. I agree Wynne is  awesome. I really think there should be a few chairs and a small table outside of her tent where my PC can sit and have a chat and some tea and cookies... oh well, maybe in a DLC. She probably would have finished Sten's knitted cloak/sweater by then too.

I second this.  Take Wynne with you into the Deep Roads.  There should be enough banter triggers for you to hear the best Oghren-Wynne banters.

When you're romancing Alistair she calls him out all the time. She did once when he was "observing her hips".....left him all flustered and grabbing for excuses. She's got so much funny banter with all the characters though.Posted Image

Do you get additional convo options with her if you're a mage?

Wynne doesn't look look very old, and she is actually quite likable once you start chit chatting with her. Also, very funny banters.

Clearly though, the developers have never seen the movie Harold & Maude. So, if you're playing a male character, the only viable heterosexual romance options are 1) Morrigan, a cold and heartless ****, and 2) Leilana, the nutjub (who is also very French). Personally, I'd consider the more experienced lady, especially considering I've had girlfriends that are all too reminiscent of both Morrigan and Leilani.

So, if Wynne happened to be cold in her tent one night, I'd certainly entertain the notion of warming up with her, so to speak.

Just saying...:innocent:

I found Wynne to be a great character too - she became my PC's surrogate mom. I found her to be a nice change from the 'evil toothless old hag' type that older women are usually portrayed as. Mind you, motherly/grandmotherly type is perhaps also a stereotype, but she's a step in the right direction, I reckon.

Soo...are there hats and jackets in this fan club? If so, I'd like some.

I haven't tried Wynne + Oghren in the party, but I about died laughing at the banter between Wynne and Shale.

Wynne is a superb character. I can find no faults. And perhaps, its due to her stability, that i found her so likable. As others above have said, you don't need to "fix" her. sure, at one point you do a small favour for her, but she is the rock that my party is built around. She legitimately cares about the PC... and Alistair too if you talk to her, and hear their banter. She's also very powerful. the only times she's out of my party is to hear banters between other characters...

as an aside... i loved Kreia too, and she was my favourite NPC in the KOTOR series (well except for HK-47). And Wynne is certainly reminiscent of her in many respects (obviously not her ultimately evil plans, but the unquestioned affection that Kreia has for the PC in KOTOR2 comes through in Wynne for the PC in DA:O)

And the one about Alistair scratching a wound through the bandage. That one had me rolling.

Wynne was pretty funny at times, but I wish I could find an old man in a game as funny as Zedd from the sword of truth books.

I do like older wise characters in games but they always get made into stereotypes of old people.

Actually on my first playthrough, I hated Wynne. I was so wrapped up in what happened in the Human Noble origin that I just wanted to justice and didn't want to do things the 100% good way that Wynne would have liked. I thought she rather nagged at me a lot.

After playing a few times and going through her dialogues, I started to jump on the fanclub too. She's a very mothery, wise character that helps you get a better insight of the world and helps guide you. Especially if you're a mage.

I liked how I got approval +7 from Wynne after I banged some redheaded elf chick I had just met a few seconds ago. Either Wynne likes spontaneous elf-on-elf action or she likes seeing whiny boys getting by pwned by my character. Either way, she is awesome. She became a permanent fixture of my active party after that.
