(Note - act 1 takes place sometime after awakening (Anders) and a few years after the Dalish elf origin)

The Origins are at the beginning of the Blight.
Lothering is early Blight.
The Blight is a year.
Awakening is six months after the Blight.
Awakening has to take a few months minimum.
After Awakening there has to be time for a new Warden Commander to take over, cave to Templar pressure and take away Anders kitty.
Anders has to stick around long enough to become ticked about all of this before abominating himself.
Anders has to have time to go to Kirkwall and establish himself as a healer in Darktown before meeting Hawke.
Hawke's story starts at the destruction of Lothering.
???
Spends a few weeks on a boat.
Spends a year in servitude, during which the Blight ends, according to Varric.
Meets Anders early in Act I.
Does Not Compute.

It was 10 years.
Lothering/Gwaren/Ship: 1 year.
Act I: 1 year.
3 year cut.
Act 2: 1 year.
3 year cut.
Act 3: 1 year.
Evidence: The cutscene says the ship took months to get from Gwaren to Kirkwall.
Evidence: There are two achievements that state each Act is one year. The first is "Unstoppable" which says, "Completed a full year in Kirkwall without any party member being knocked unconscious." The second is" Archeologist" Which says, "During each year in Kirkwall, discovered 3 secret messages from the Band of Three." I'm sure there is more evidence than these achievements, but i'm not digging for it.
Evidence: After every 3 year skip, the game constantly mentions how 3 years have passed.
Act III is actually the 6th or 7th year, evidenced by Varric's dialogue when you do the quest "An Aniversary". The 10th year is the year in which Cassandra chats with Varric.

I suspect the year is a made up number to cover the fact that Anders should be hanging around Kal'Hirol with Sigrun, Nate, the Warden and his new Kitty around the time Hawke meets him in Darktown.
The one year was to cover up Flemeth possibly being 'killed' by the warden (At least I think so)
Beause when you get her to sundermount you ask her some questions and she will eventually say that she had an appointment to keep in a very ominous voice.

Varric tells you that you've known each other for 6 years in Act 3. Developers stated in another thread somewhere (too lazy to find it) that the discussion between Varric and the Templar is three years after that.
Who said it was a templar?

The Warden got more s*** done in his sleep than Hawke did in SEVEN years.

I *love* that it takes Hawke years to do almost nothing and just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

But then again it did take my Warden about 7 and a half second to travel hundreds of kilometres.

people you can't be serious... Are you saying that if they had added those "missing" few years to the dialogue, you wouldn't feel "cheated"? I couldn't care less if it's 5 or 10 years. It's a good game.
Thread Ender.

Flemeth's possible death is during Origins. Anders becomes a warden at least six months after the end of Origins and has a lot to do before meeting Hawke. Since he can be with you on Sundermount, I think attempting to account for his presence is more important than hers.

And if you want to get really technical it should actually take the Warden weeks to travel to one damn location on the map, they all look hundreds of kilometres from each other. How the darkspawn to completley Shoop-Da-Woop ferelden in that time amazes me.
