I understand that he does come off as a stereotype at first, but he is so well written that you can't help but fall in love with his character.

A few people mentioned that they didn't like the Antonio Banderasy accent, but I just think of it as more Inigo Montoya from Princess Bride.

At first I was hell bent on a romance with Alistair, but i screwed it up because I don't take sweet compliments well. I was sad, so I went after Zev., mostly as a substitute, but then I grew so attached to him. He has my type of humor and even his bluntness with compliments made me feel more comfortable.

My second play through, I'm already with Alistair, but I can't shake the feeling that I'm betraying Zevran.

I say give Zevran a chance outside of just him being used for a bed buddy. There is more to him than the flirtiness.

Zevran is definitely well-voiced, but as a character, I just hate him - a lot. I regret I didn't kill him as I had the chance on my 1st playthrough. He betrayed me and tried to kill me, again.

I instantly killed him the second time around.

It is kind of a pity that I don't get to see how well written he is, but I can't help it - I just hate him. :D

I haven't romanced him yet but he is a lot of fun to have around. His accent reminds me of an actor and it's neither Inigo or Banderas but I can't for the life of me place it.. Going to start my second play through soon and I'll definately be going for Zevran this time.

I guess I can't relate since I picked up Leliana so early and she satisfied all my rogue-ish needs. Also, I liked the combination of her ranged support, Morrigan's offensive/healing ranged support, Shale's massive tanking, and my PC's off-tank/DPS dual-wielding. Having Zehvran in there as a 3rd melee'er would have thrown off my delicate mix.

Also, it was fun to kill him when he inevitable betrays you. The game didn't even give him yellow-title elite status, the bum.

I don't hate him. Nor do I particularly like him. He is just meeeh.

Sten, for all of his sterness and calmness, is a much more interesting character.

The problem with Zev is, as an Asssassin, he isn't badass enough. Except for his best line: "The Antivan crows send their regards".

Yeah, ITA. I prefer darker characters in my fiction, and games are no exception. Alistair is sweet, but a little *too* sweet for my tastes. (Although I still felt bad giving him the "just friends" speech after accidentally triggering some romance dialogue with him.)

I see people complain a lot about Zev's humor and flirty behavior. Alistair uses humor to deflect, and that's exactly what Zev does with his flirty banter, yet people are much more accepting of Alistair's sarcasm.

If people actually played out the story with Zev, they'd see there's a lot beneath the surface. The guy grew up in a brothel, and was sold to a secret cult of assassins. Yes, he has issues, very deep issues. He doesn't really expect anyone to ever love him. If you do, he's surprised by it, and becomes much more serious with you.

Does he continue to flirt? Yes. But it's not serious. It's just Zev's way of keeping other people at a distance.

Does he sound like Antonio Banderas? Yes. Personally, I don't see that as a negative...

I saw him as the perfect compliment to my angry city elf, bitter over the past. His flirtations were annoying at first, but also slid underneath all her prickly defenses, much to her surprise. :) Plus, there was something just a little exciting about taking him to bed for the first time - the assassin who'd been hired to kill her. ;)

I don't mind his personality or his character, his voice starts to chip away at my nerves after awhile though.

Same here. Zevran hatred is a part of the blood running through my veins,

I hated him so much I stripped him of all his gear, and that's without knowing the Denerim part :D I was laughing so awkwardly hard when that certain Denerim cutscene started I couldn't breath normally for the next 5 minutes.

I was laughing out loud when he and Alistair had a conversation about how bastards became rulers in Antiva. It was so hilarious.

Well, I don't hate him. I kind of like him, but my heart belongs to Alistair, alas. Although I kind of semi-saw things through to the end finally (reverted to Alistair however). I still think he vaguely reminds me of Ricardo Montalban (aka Khan in Star Trek or Mr. Roarke in Fantasy Island) for some reason. I think it was because of the Antivan boots thing, where Zev goes on about the leather. I still remember that commercial with Montalban and the "fine Corinthian leather" - to me it sounded kind of like a nod to the old commercial, etc. etc. Anyhow, Zev has depth once you get past his defenses. The story about the woman he loved was sad, and I'd choose him, if not for the sexy templar. *cough*

I broke his neck without hesitation. A noble doesn't let his would-be-assassin go unpunished.

He plays a flawless psychopath.

There is no regret in that man's heart for anything, and he just doesn't care. He will manipulate you into any situation that fits his own personal desires.

That being said, he fits my "hit it and quit it" sexually-abused runaway city elf rogue's personality perfectly.

I can't wait to see the depth of Zev's character. My first character only had eyes for Alistair, so she didn't encourage him.

I planned to romance Zev with my next character but, dammit, she's falling for Alistair, too. *LOL* I finally decided to start a male character who CAN'T romance Alistair just so that I can finally see the romance with Zev play out. : )

Zevran really isn't all that bad n if you do avoid killing him n can get his influence up he can be fiercely loyal especially when his quest happens... I truly enjoyed Zevran, I was a lil uncomfortable with him trying to hit on my male character but if you mention that your a guy n avoid those kinda conversations you can get a very loyal friend. He's got his comical moments especially around certain other party members n he's a good rogue/assasin. Give him a chance n he might grow on you n you don't have to go it by hittin on him lol.

Lelianna was the first rogue I encountered and I almost wrote off the entire class after that, until Zevran found his way into my party who I wasn't too fond off. By chance I went back to camp for a bit and decided to check up on our new companion, I fell in love with the cute elf, maybe I am just easily won over by all his flirting, in a matter of minutes quickly replacing Shale as my new permanent party member.

I feel the same way you do. I was somewhat neutral but with emotions seeping into negative ones when you first encounter Zevran. Those quickly shifted nevertheless, when I actually got to speaking with him at camp and started to get closer to him.. Just wow, great job on writing him David Gaider .

And I've never had him in my party and thus haven't heard a single crack or opinion from him about my ongoing adventures since I don't want anymore rogues with me already being one. For my second play-thru however..

A good assassin shouldn't feel anything for his victims. Zevran says he has no regrets and he might be right in the sense that it brought him to where he is now. He also might just be saying that so he comes off more intimidating.

Sadly, in real life if I ran into someone who tried to kill me and failed, I doubt I would think twice about whether or not to end them.:D

suliabryon already said everything I wanted to D:

I find he's quite an endearing character once you get to know him a little better. The romance was really well done too, imo. While I liked Alistair, that romance was so sweet it made my teeth hurt. Also very well done, but I personally lost interest in it rather fast.

Of course, I'm also biased towards the accent <3

I'm playing a rogue as well, but I find having Zevran paired with a mage (either Wynne or morrigan, depending if I want healing or more combat oriented spells) and a tank (usually either Alistair or my dog), is quite an effective group.

And the banter is often really, really funny. :D

Zev is fun fun FUN. He is outrageous. He is super amusing and I really want to find him a girlfriend and be the best man at his wedding.

I was very disappointed that I could not matchmake for him. Alas. But I like the dude. He is so over the top. So loveable in an absolutely different way from Alistair. He reminds me of my best male friend to whom I can say anything because he won't take me seriously.

I used him a lot more (initially for his rogue dps!) and he grew on me as a character. His arc is similar to Leiliana's, except maybe a little more extreme. When he realized he had striven so hard to 'be someone' in the Antivan Crows, and they valued life at nothing, he signed up for a suicide mission because it seemed the only way out. If the elven alienage is a slum, the Antivan crows are a street gang, offering you the opportunity for advancement within the perverse logic of the slum.

And you know what? He gets major, major bonus points just for the sequence of him and Oghren busting you out of Ft. Dakkon. (Zev: We're the famous bromo brothers! Guard: You don't look like brothers... Zev: Well, not identical twins, of course...Oghren: I'm the pretty one.)

Heh I may try it out. As I've recently found that I can manage without Morrigan's AE and CC when I replaced Oghren with her in the Deep Roads. My party would then consist of 2 DPS, Tank and a Healer - same as yours in one grouping. :)
