I'll have to try those two when I do Ft. Dakkon again... The first game I used Morrigan n Zevran cause of the ring that she says she can find me with, which wasn't very funny.  With Oghren it sounds more comical lol.  Def be tryin those 2

I still think Sten+Dog is the funniest banter when escaping from the prison.

Guard: And who are you supposed to be?

Sten: I'm a giant with a wardog. Either I'm making a delivery or I'm besieging your fort. Pray it is the former.

I got a +8 from Sten after bedding Alistair. I think it's because I didn't wait for Alistair to say he was ready.

Sten "This flirting ritual, I don't understand. If you want to mate you mate. That is it. That is how it is."

Ha, that's hilarious.  My PC waited for Alistair, but maybe in a future play-through, I'll see if I can get the convo from Sten.   It's kind of creepy that he knew it had happened, though.  Like, he was paying attention that closely to the whole thing...?

As for Zevran...  I actually killed him on my first play-through, because I thought that's what my character would have done.  Mages have to stand against crime, amirite?  But, I'm just starting on a new play-through and I've decided not to kill him, so I'm interested to see what the character is like.  He sounds...layered and like a well-developed character.  That accent kind of grates on me, though, so we'll see.  ;)

Zevran is pretty much my favourite NPC right now. I romanced him with my male mage my first playthrough. He is absolutely amazing. Now I'm trying out the Alistair romance, and though I love him too, Zev will always be very special to me. <3

I fear I will have the same problem when I play a human noble with the intent of romancing Alistair. We'll see. For now, I'm certainly enjoying playing Kallian, my city elf, and seeing just how attached and committed Zev and she will unintentionally find themselves. :D

It's comfortable talking to him.

Until he says, "But I get to stare at you alluringly," while you ask questions. Blech.

My female elf didn't mind that, but my human noble did. I get waaay too much in character with this game.

I bet if he wasn't the same sex male romance there would be a lot less Z-man hate.

LOL it's all good!! I'm starting the campaign anew with a city elf and I can guarantee she's going to want to kick and slap Alistair on many an occasion.. Getting in character just makes the potential story lines that much more awesome. :P

I disliked Zevran until it hit me... he reminds me of Puss in Boots from Shrek. <.< Which makes him more tolerable and helluva lot more funny to have around.

Confession: I chose to equip him with Dalish armor, because the cooler tones looked far better on him than the browns he comes to the party in. Also, it gets better bonuses, but I don't know that I'd have kept his original armor even if it had extraordinary numbers.

I like the Drake scale armor on him, myself.  It's dark blue and a lot more assassiny looking.

Ooooh - I wish I were not trapped at work, else I'd go try the drake armor on him right now (my PC is actually wearing it at the moment.)

i hate this guy. Sorry, i just hate him.

My first char was romancing morrigan, and i start hating him because he was always trying to make some romance with me. Then as a girl, it was worst, he start romancing me once he saw me.

I tend to save a lot and look at the other conversations and Zev's is very interesting. Though I do find him a tad feminine for my tastes. I found his banter fun to play with. I love to flirt and he's good at it. Though when it comes down to who I'd want at my side, he doesn't make the grade. I'm a sucker for the innocent puppy dog routine of Alistair. It's a shame I couldn't flirt with Zev without it meaning I was romancing him.

His "practical" attitude is different from Morrigan's. His is very apathetic of anything going on around him. It's more a matter of convenience to him. There's no sincerity.

Nope. I don't like him one bit. Do you?

I fell head over heels for Alistair my first playthrough. I had wanted to explore the different characters first, but changed my mind pretty fast. Guess I'm just a sucker for the sweetness. But it meant that by the point I got Zevran, I was already devoted to Alistair. Alistair fit my human noble better, anyway.

That just meant that I'd have to devote myself to Zevran the second time, which is what I'm doing now. I'm really looking forward to how things develop, and I'm determined to have him in my party at all times for more interaction. I was quite surprised though that with my attempt to joke around with Alistair and not get serious, that Alistair REALLY LIKES the joking. I think he fell for me faster this time than the first time, and it was hard to cut it off with him (wow this game makes me get seriously involved with the characters, I love that).

I want to fall in love with Zevran's character as much as I fell for Alistair's. I want my third playthrough to be so torn as to which I pick, that I don't, and instead check out Leliana.... which might be hard for me. Not due to any same-sex stuff, but I see some notes here by people who found Alistair too sweet... for me, that's Leliana! Such a chatterbox, and then there's the shoe thing... eesh, harden up, girl!

My firstplaythrough I used Zevran a fair bit, he was actually a decent character. Some of my favourite encounters were when my rogue and zev would stealth behind enemie lines in position for an ambush while my tank and mage came through together. We'd basically assassinate any archers and then pincer the remaining enemies.

He's also an interesting character to have around and he's useful to have around in certain parts of the game because he'll help you out.

I'm glad you carried the thread over from the old forums - Zevran really deserves more love from the community imo :) (and a bit less attention from homophobic pricks)

It was heartwarming, until they mentioned it didn't last forever.

They don't mention it if you choose to rebuild the Grey Wardens - instead it says Zevran remained by PC's side recruiting and training Grey Wardens but never officially joined. I guess Denerim just isn't safe enough for him...

Now I'm playing as female noble romancing Alistair - whom I love to bits, but still it's so hard to resist the flirty line of Zevran's dialogue as he's just so damn hillarious. I don't think I'd ever be able to execute him on spot with THAT recruitment speech

I found Zevran to be just perfect for my character in the end. She wasn't into rampant meaningless sex, but she was attracted to him, and he understood that. They ran off traveling together and lived happily, so yay, my Dalish girl basically got back the life she lost.

The only thing that I don't like about him is that, even after falling in love with a female PC, he pretty much treats you like a friend, and doesn't even flirt anymore. I would have liked a bit more romanticism from him once he realizes that he is in love. Nothing sappy like Alistair, but at least something.

Oh, and as far as combat goes, he's a flipping threshing machine.  No way I'd go without him.

Well he never betrayed me, in fact he even sided with me when his old master came for me.

And he made me laugh several time when he tried to seducce Leliana, Morrigan, wynn etc...

Yeah that's something I missed too. I mean at least in Redcliffe on the eve of the battle one would assume he'd spend the night in PC's room and not downstairs with everyone else. So my poor PC just got to spy on Alistair and Morrigan...
Also in the City Gates speech he still refers to PC as "friend" eventhough he has already confessed his feelings which is rather strange seeing how he might not ever get a chance to speak to her again so I'm not sure whether that's not just something writers overlooked.
At least after coronation he says something like " you caught me, wo now you're not gonna be rid of me that easily" and stays with the PC in the epilogue - yaaay

Maybe they'll patch that in.  I could definitely see him saying something about being together in a nice big bed for a change, too.  :P

And what's also weird is that, my PC turned him down when he suggested the tent the first time, and he accepted that she was shy.  But, after 100 approval rating, when she grabbed him and made for the tent, afterwards, I still got the convo choices as if they were casual lovers.  Not cool.  "We go on as before" seemed the most logical choice in this situation.

I'm going to try a reload to see if he at least gets all emotional when she decides to sacrifice herself instead of Loghain.

I loved Zevran. So much. Definitely one of my favorite characters in the game. ^__^ He was one of the only ones who actually gained influence when I felt like killing people.

Alistair got on my nerves, so badly. T__T He was whiny and disagreed with almost everything my character chose to do. I swear, I couldn't get out of a conversation with him without a nice negative influence gain. I have no idea how I got through the romance on my second playthrough...
