The only thing that I don't like about him is that, even after falling in love with a female PC, he pretty much treats you like a friend, and doesn't even flirt anymore. I would have liked a bit more romanticism from him once he realizes that he is in love. Nothing sappy like Alistair, but at least something.

Really?  I'm still not 100% sure on when you know a character's officially fallen for your PC - oh, sure, I see the little favor meter below each NPC in the radial menu, but people talk about "adore" vs. "love", and I have no idea where they're getting that from.

In any case, I still feel Zev is flirting w/my PC - he mentions pillow talk every time we talk, and recently tried to use a racy poem to make her smile because she seemed so sad/serious to him.  I've heard he gives you a gift later as well, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

Ah, you haven't gotten the "love" conversation with Zev yet. Take heart. :)

I'll have him in my group in my 2nd playthrough but I killed him right away in my 1st. Not because of any dislike of the character but because of how you encounter him.

Zevran is definetily one of my favourite characters. He's funny, charming, sarcastic and seems also very clever. And there is something so very world weary about him and a lot of sorrow and pain under the surface.

He had learned to expect nothing from life, really, I think. So he didn't want to give anything back either. I'm glad my PC was able to prove him otherwise and they could ride together towards the sunset. Or something. :)

I tried to romance Zevran on my second playthrough, but stopped halfway through for some reason.. (I blame Alistiar...) Now I'm on a new playthrough and I'm hoping to see it to the end this time. Zevran is a character I always enjoyed being around, but never really got the time to appreciate. Maybe this time things will be different. Just in case though I've isolated Alistiar at the camp and refuse to talk to him unless absolutely necessary. I will not be tempted again!
That said, Zevran is all kinds of awesome. :D

I find it fascinating that (at least, from what I've read) so many people who don't normally care or hope for same-sex relationships in rpgs like him, while it seems like (again, from what it seems I've read) the people who do loathe almost everything about him.

I think, like people have said before, he doesn't really have a place in the story itself. He seems like a completely disposable character. If the player doesn't make an effort to bring him along, one hardly misses out on anything at all. Even Wynne, at least, has a quest and place in the storyline, even if it is just helping the Tower. Zevran just shows up, appearing dire and ominous, only to be defeated without even breaking a sweat. Compared to the Morrigan and Allister romances, there's hardly any depth, history, or attachment at all. They, at least, have friends and family to meet, places they care about, interests outside of the player, although I definitely agree with some of the earlier posters that if he had been introduced sooner there might be a lot more of that.

Personally though, I find his character incredibly insulting. To me he comes across as stereotypically gay, sleazy, and just slightly shy of being a simpering, effeminite wimp (toned down just barely enough to pass, I suppose). Add to that personal distaste everything that I said above and to me he really is just a trash offering that I personally would just rather not have in game at all.

But that's just me. Thoughts?

I love Zevran, he's definitely one of my favorite characters in DA. He stays with you till the end once you save him from the Crows and have a good standing with him. Which is something, than Alistair leaving if you spare Loghain.

I actually prefer Zevran over Alistair! I got up to "Love" with Alistair and just...kind of got bored, I guess. And he doesn't seem to fit so well with my elf rogue :) Although on my next playthrough I plan on playing a female noble and seeing the Alistair romance all the way through.

I really do like Zev a lot, and plus, I guess I do have a thing for cute elven males!

It's true that Alistair and Morrigan's romances have more to them; they are, after all, the "lead" male and female characters after your PC. However, they also contain a lot more potential for heartbreak; Alistair is trouble and tragedy hidden in adorableness. They're just...a lot more trouble. It's not to say that Zevran and Leliana's romances aren't good; they're just not as plot-integral as Morrigan and Alistair, and I'm quite fine with that. We can't all be the stars, and sometimes it's a lot less trouble to go for someone who isn't deeply tied up in all the crazy that's going on.

I like the character and his dialogs are very funny and nice but he looks really creepy and ugly like every male elv in the game. As a gay player I was disappointed that he is the only character my male rogue can have a romance with....

Hmmmm I actually find him really yummy but I guess to each his own...

Man you can't possibly kill him after that recruitment speech.
Zevran: ...and if I'd failed
PC: If?
zevran: what can I say, I'm an eternal optimist

Zevran: well that's between Loghain and Crows and Crows and myself
PC: And between me and you
Zevran: isn't that what we're establishing now

PC_ you must think I'm royally stupid
Zevran: I think you're royally tough to kill and utterly gorgeous. Not that I think you'll respond to simple flattery but there are worse things in life then serving the whims of a deadly sex goddess

PC: and what do you want in return?
Zevran: well let's see being allowed to live would be nice and would make me marginally more useful to you

You get + and - from other party members in camp for your actions with other party members?

I got nothing. I was romancing Alistair and blatantly flirting with Zevran. Got not a peep, except at one point both made "the jealousy speach". If I chose to take the speach with Alistair, got no points from Zevran. But if I chose to speak with Zevran and turn him down, got -13 from Zevran - but he was still happy to flirt the same way aferwards (even though i told him the "I love Alistair" line).

My 2nd playthrough I'm going for Zevran :)

I loved Zevran. So much. Definitely one of my favorite characters in the game. ^__^ He was one of the only ones who actually gained influence when I felt like killing people.

Alistair got on my nerves, so badly. T__T He was whiny and disagreed with almost everything my character chose to do. I swear, I couldn't get out of a conversation with him without a nice negative influence gain. I have no idea how I got through the romance on my second playthrough...

It's the sex =) The make up sex got you through ;)

thing i dont like about him.. is that ya got 2 options no matter what u say.

1 u get to hate him and kill him.

2: everything u see just te be on a normal standing with him is getting sexually overdone.. everything he says is intend for flirt/romance.. he is way to much overdone in my opinion.

as a male dwarf i like to be good to my party.. but being good to sten / shale / dog etc. doenst mean i like them to give me sexual comments . Zevran has to die..... to keep my dwarven spirit balanced.

same way with wynne... i cant stand ppl who keep judigng/lecturing me.

both characters are to much overdone in there scripting role.

leliana is a preaching one aswell.. but atleast with her there is a chance to harden her, or just stay on a normal relation with her. :)

Why would anyone even try to revive an assassin sent to kill them?

To me he was like any other bandit i killed before him, didn't have any urge to revive them and give them gifts either.

I slit his throat first meeting all playthroughs.

I was touched to find out that he was religious. I would;ve never thought that about him. Not because of the killing thing, but just his attitude.

Even though I'm romancing Alistair now, I'm still flirting with Zevran. Old habits die hard.

His last speech before I go to fight the Archedemon made me cry. I didn't let him come with me, even though he's a great fighter. He mentioned he would go to the Dark City itself with me and then I told him I love him, and he said "Cruel to the end."

Hmm...now I have to try that.

It's the way you encounter him which is my main gripe. I like the character and i've spared him once just to get to know him. But otherwise I just kill him instantly before/after interrogation. Why would I spare someone working for my enemy who just tried to assassinate me? Because he's charming? HA! Anyone in that situation would say anything to avoid being killed.

So am I to understand that if you get Zev to love you, he won't betray you in Den? Very interesting if this is the case. I mean not that the little bastard has a chance with me as I don't swing that way... but it's really cool to see how radically different you can alter your gameplay with the choices you make. Man Bioware is really winning me over again with this one.

You don't have to romance him for him to stick around. It's a matter of approval.
