Perhaps this could explain why Leliana shows up in DA2 after some players had killed her in DA:O?
Hm?

You're saying she's Flemeth now?

I figure she just used the 'feign death' ability from Origins or something like that...  Dunno.

No, I'm just asking if it's possible that there was a " piece" of Leliana in an amulet somewhere like in this deal with Flemeth. It's a stretch, I know, it's merely a suggestion for those who can't seem to wrap their heads around Lelliana being alive in DA2.

the way they explain this is that we only thort that she died but really she went off with out saying good by same with the other you can kill of in DAO

Leilana could be killed at the urn of ashes...ah wait a minute.  the ashes rose her from the dead. nm solved itPosted Image

ok... spmebody has to explain to me wtf a "lich" is. It seems like I heard it before...

I have to say I'm a dedicated Flemeth fan! I love the old hag and I'm sure she will be back in the next installment.
I want her to play an important role, but I think she is something other than most of the creatures we have met. Obviously she was human and has mastered a spirit AND a demon, or become one with them, who knows. Also she has the ability to jump bodies together with said spirit& demon... Also I'm pretty sure she knows quite a bit about blood magic and obviously also about the forgotten magic of the elves... It's interesting to see her interact with Merrill... makes me wonder even more... all in all I'm gonna try to stay on her good side... I think Gaider should write a book about her.

Hmm the whole Flemeth thing is closer to the HP's horcrux than to anything else mentioned in this thread. Correct me if I'm wrong but creating a phylactery is integral to the creation of a lich. The whole soul is stored in an object making the person undead. There is no reason to believe that Flemeth is undead. Plus she mentions that only a part of her was stored in the amulet.
The slavic myths of Koschey and Baba Yaga are closer but some versions of the lore do not mention souls at all just linking a specific object to immortality and others are similar to the lich idea of storing the whole soul in an objet. In any way - it appears that Koschey has always been like that - there is no mention of him doing anything to become immortal.

i think flemeth is an old Elven God also if you have Fenris in your party when you take the amulet to the elves [/i]when you meet flemeth he says something on the lines of "this is no ordinary mage i know mages"

.

The basic premise of a Lich (sometimes spelled Liche) is that of a very powerful evil sorcerer who has extended his life to near immortality by various and nefarious magical means like the sacrifice of a innocent. Most often (but not always) is depicted as a rotting zombie-like or skeletal figure in wizardly robes as, although his life spirit is still inhabiting the body, the body itself is essentially dead and rotting. Unlike zombies, more often than not depicted as mindless drones, a lich still maintains all the mental faculites he had in life, which includes all his magical abilities making him an especially dangerous undead enemy.

Just to clarify I'm not insinuating in any way that Bioware "copied" the idea, I'm just pointing out how similar it is and I found that interesting.

ah... thanks guys. Now me being all educated and stuff I can say I have to disagree with the lich-theory. The hocrux idea seems more plausible, however, who says HP owns that idea. I'm pretty sure there is some more literature on that then just a 21st century novel. Probably something out of some legend or myth...

It really annoys me to see the incredibly ignorant people who seem to believe that Harry Potter is the ONLY THING EVAR to have included someone having an object with a bit of their soul in it. Seriously, if it's in Harry Potter, it's probably ripped off from somewhere else

Here...

The underlying idea of eluding death by means of arcane study and black magic can be traced to Middle Eastern folklore,[original research?] and the method of achieving immortality by placing one's soul in a phylactery, usually hidden in some vast fortress, is suggestive of the burial practices of Egypt.[original research?]
Eastern Slavic mythology includes stories of a powerful dark wizard or a demon, Koschei the Deathless, who evades death by having his fiery soul placed in the eye of a magical needle. The needle is inside an egg, which is inside a duck, which is inside a hare, which is locked in an iron chest placed at the roots of a great oak tree, which is in a hole in the ground on the magical island of Buyan. Koschei can be killed only by breaking the magical needle, which is much like the phylactery of a lich. This image is consistent with the modern interpretation of the lich.[original research?]

The 'origional research?' annotations may mean that this is not entirely accurate, but anyway.

I agree except the part that it makes you angry.  HP is derived from multiple fantasy worlds created BEFORE HP was, hardly anything is original in it. (not saying its bad)
