It's the principle of the thing, I wouldn't mind them so much if they didn't take up all space in trailers and promotional material.
Yes FemHawke got some, which is better than FemShep who got.. none at all, but still. Principle.

Yes I like this I'd pitch to Bioware:Instead of making the trailer and have the main character be the gender of the larger demographic lets go the opposite route to show of how cools it is. All this would =profit. Although I do understand how you feel.

The gender issue isn't the sole reason, I object to a default character being plastered all over trailers and box art. There's no reason why they need to do that. DA:O's box art was just fine without some guy I'll never play as on it.

And I don't see why female characters shouldn't get equal representation in promotions and box art at least, if you must have characters at all.

So you feel like you have to belittle the male counterpart to prove your point? It's unwarranted.

Be optimistic instead, it's getting better. FemShep got nothing, Femhawke Lady Hawke got screens, (whoever) will be in the next game - it'll be a bloody CGI trailer.

Quoting just in case you missed it. Or were you replying to me?

I was replying to both of you. If you're referring to the optimism thing.. I'm a pessimist by nature.  :wizard:
If FemShep pops up in ME3 promotional material I shall be very surprised.

*shrugs* You're probably right.
Won't stop me from piling on the hate for the marketing department though!

Meh, hate the market not the marketers. Most gamers are still young white males - and companies are going to keep on pandering to that demographic untill it changes. If it ever does.

It's changing all the time, most publishers just don't recognise that.
Moreover, games with a 20/30-something dark haired white male protagonist have completely saturated the market.
Why exactly they flaunt that instead of the more unique aspects is beyond me.

well personally I don't know why you'd care since didn't you say you didn't like that they used the default appearances and that is what would be in trailers, etc? they might not get air time but to me male and female characters are written pretty equally.

Hence hate for the marketers, not developers.
I still have to have it rubbed in my face when I see the box or even use the darn launcher.

Like the 20/30-something dark haired white female protagnist? Granted it's no where near as saturated as the aforementioned games, but there you go. There does seem to have been a slight drop-off games with dedicated female protaganists as far as I can tell however.
