I vote party for the banter.

The dialogs get quite annoying after a while. If it's your x-th walkthrough, you probably know them all.

I prefer small party games where you level multiclass characters decently well, don't quite run into inventory problems, yet don't have to babysit every character from harmful spells. Often the protagonist and 2 or 3 NPCs would be great for that.

In a team it's like 'let this weakling help the other weakling'. And you need to babysit them all.
It's not often I reply with just a smiley, but this is funny, because it's true and still I fall for party-campaigns.

Here's a response i'd have for each of the NPCs
Minsc- It's not a ****g space hamster, it's just a small rat. Go play in traffic.
Jaheira - I wish the rack they put Khalid on was made for two
Aerie - I wish they'd given you the Ogre voice too.
Valgyar - the Edward Cullen of BG2
Edwin - with that goatee and accent, are you even allowed within 50 feet of a school?
Haer'dalis - No you're not prettier than Aerie.
Viconia - No you're not prettier than Aerie
Jan - Did I ever tell you the one about the dead gnome in the turnip bin?
Keldorn - If Helm sees all, why the **** does he need me?
Cernd - as boring as a snowflake is unique
Anomen - Monty Python casting was yesterday dude
Nalia - I'll show you where to put that ray of sunshine
Imoen - thank god we're not actually related.
Yes, I'm an NPC curmudgeon.

Anyway, they could have implemented that in a better way I guess. I am not certain whether there is a mod that allows evil outcomes to some of the bigger quests and many of the smaller quests, but I would certainly welcome it.

Just like marriage . The first years it's okay but after 5-6 years just the presence of the other might annoy you. After seing their mud almost each day for years ...You start to get annoyed,
With Kid it's easier because their personality change(if you have kids)

Solo is much easier than party, contrary to most people's beliefs, except beginning and end.
Having spent a considerable amount of my playing time solo, I'd agree that many people have a distorted view of how challenging it is.
Intuitively, it would seem as though playing with 6 characters would be easier then one. But as Czacki noted, that isn't always the case. Since you level up so quickly solo, you can end up overpowered in the midgame- trivializing encounters that would otherwise be challenging. And of course, you can also concentrate items and gold into a single character. The problem can get worse if you complete all the quests and gather as much XP and resources as possible.
Strange as it seems then, playing solo and completing all the quests can end up being one of the easiest ways to play the game- assuming you have thoroughly studied the battles designed for high XP characters and have a reliable strategy for those.
The logic differs in some contexts of course. Soloing can reduce your margin for error. So, I'd be hesitant to say that soloing is "easier" for No Reload play- it would depend on the class and the gamers experience. Also, there are mods that are specifically designed to make soloing a headache.
What's the upshoot of all this? If you are interested in soloing and are afraid it might be too difficult, give it a try: you may be surprised. And if you are playing vanilla or a minimally modded game solo but hankering for a challenge, consider using stage based Experience Caps- soloing becomes far more deadly when you are alone but still have the EXP level a player in a party of 6.
Best,
A.
Btw. In direct response to the OP, I enjoy both solo and party play- it depends on my goal. When I want to understand a character or class thoroughly, I usually prefer solo play. I often prefer partying (frequently with quest completion restrictions) for roleplaying and midgame balance.

I'd say without tweaking the game in many ways solo is more deadly in no-reloads than party play is. The reduced margin of error is considerable. I think that is a good balance though. You are the ultimate glass cannon, especially with good enemy ai, which i btw think nowadays should be counted as mandatory.
Solo in vanilla and with reloading i could never understand - no party banter - no challenge. I tried it but having HLAs in SoA is so ridiculous imo.
