Now, as a fine demonstration of my tech stupidity, I am a little fuzzy as to how DA:O would fair. I'd like to think ok, given that Mass Effect ran just fine at medium settings. But, for DA:O I think my RAM might be a problem. So...if anyone can shed some light.

Intel® Core™2 Extreme Processor QX9770 OC@3.67Ghz, 4096MB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM OC@1333MHz, two in CrossFireX - 1GB ATI® Radeon™ HD3870 X2 (or read 4xHD3870). I think I should be set for the game. My specs are getting dated though, might upgrade at the very least my RAM and GPU soon. Perhaps I'll wait for the next batch of ATi or nVidia..
What a waste of money, could of taken a holiday!
Was obtained before any financial crisis (wich didn't hit so hard in Norway), so I could buy that rig and take a holiday, hehe. I am also a dedicated PC gamer and like playing games as they are coming out with higher settings. I forked out a little extra so that I can still nearing 2 years after buying it, have a decent system that should run most games on high quality settings (and does). I am starting to feel a bit behind on the GPU's though, although they run anything I throw at them currently just fine. I know that not before long, I assume that I will need to upgrade to a more recent GPU series though (--Probably going to wait until DX11 gets more established (and I hope it ain't such a failure like DX10)). I also got most of my PC parts cheaper knowing the importer getting them directly from asia. Anyways, it wasn't a waste of money and I was able to take a holiday

AMD Phenom II x2 550 @ 3.1 GHz
4GB Memory (RAM)
EVGA Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX+
WIndows 7 pro 64-bit
DirectX 11
And I should be able to run it on high with over 30FPS (should). This kind of hardware upgrade should only be about $400 from newegg.com or somewhere similar. If you're worried about performance, just try to get close to that mark and you'll be alright. Also, contrary to what most people will tell you: AMD>Intel. Why? Because you're gaming. Not rendering 3D objects and breakneck speeds =P

I'm hoping these will do for max settings
*Edit and ofc Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
*Edit and on the note that AMD>Intel
as long as you can afford intel it always beats amd. While amd might come close to even at gaming, as soon as you even think of doing anything else it's hands down to intel, hence Intel > AMD =P

Anything that's under "6" in the hundreds digit isn't designed for gaming at all, and is likely to be junk.Matzoe wrote...
So, how is the ATI Mobility 4570 worse than the 2600 or 3600? How does that make sense?

I've played about 30 min on my laptop and I think you will be fine. Here are my specs
ATI 3670 512MB DDR3 your card is a bit faster/better than mine
C2D 2.4Ghz P8600
6GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 64bit
Playing it at 1920x1080 resolution full screen, with textures on low and graphics setting at medium in the first area I"m getting around 38FPS according to FRAPS.
Now if I lower it to 1280x720 then it jumps to around 60-70 keeping the same settings. I prefer native screen resolution so I don't mind playing at medium settings. At 720P I could play on high or extra but the 1080P crisp resolution, IMO, makes up for the lower graphical setting. One thing though, this thing makes the laptop hot, fans 100% lol so get a good cooler. I have AS5 paste + undervolted and a cooler so my temps are down but the fans are still running.
Oh and after 30mins of game time, I can see NO WAY I could play this properly on a console.. it's like wtf how can one even enjoy this on a console if you were able to play (even at med settings) on a PC. enjoy! finally p.s. I don't want to hog the HDTV either so that's another reason I'm on PC. sorry for the long post.
