I wouldn't mind if Merrill looked more like Merrill, but had a darker hue that made her look like a drow. But you've ah. . . completely changed her. D=

Haha got it working, Thank you! I have a Leliana with a dark body and light head hahaha xD, Is there a way to give her Leliana's proper body from DA2? Armor n'all ?
I was fairly certain there was a unique Leliana appearance code in DA2, but can't find it now. Anyway, here's how to get the next best thing (actually even better in my opinion):
1. Install Thought Process' mod for companion armor: http://social.biowar...index/6523705/1
2. Open save game with editor, find Isabela, under appearance, change the appearance type/original type (two identical numbers) to 16;
3. Under equipment_items, delete the line which contains "_isa_" or somesuch (reference to Isabela's personal clothing) to prevent glitching.
Voila, now you can equip her with any armor/clothing to your liking.

That's what I tried first. I even have that head lying around somewhere. But in the end, Merril just didn't do it for me as this petite bug-eyed pseudo-Na'vi (sorry Merril lovers). After all, she's a love interest, but she looked like an entirely different species even - the difference was far more profound than e.g. with Asari in Mass Effect or Viconia the Dark Elf in BioWare's own BG2.
Speaking of Vicky:
That's more like what I was going for

Anyway, Varric got some genetic treatment:

Varric's on the left. Yep, the guy in the steel crown. He stole it from Viscount Dumar. After he eviscerated his body and took off his scalp. The man couldn't take care of his own kid, what do you want?
I also respecced him to a dual-wielding Assassin. Now he's cool and badass times many.
Will also be putting this headmorph up for download. Come to think of it, I should just make the entire evil-aligned party and be done with it.

But it's your mod, and it's clear a fair bit of work went into it, so kudos to you good sir
Like someone else said, it's certainly more commendable than bleaching Isabela.

Hey, at least it's better than that etno-revisionist "Fair Skinned Isabela" mod.
I've been trying to vote that thing down for days, but some site error prevents me from doing it.
Mrmbl.
......what?
Just because someone made a mod to change the skin tone of a computer game character, you call them "etno-revisionist"? And vote down their mod?
I've actually had a look at the mod in question. It has like over 10,000 downloads and 86 endorsements. It's one of the most appreciated DA2 mods. And yet the author recently posted a comment saying he won't be doing any more modding for a while, because he got fed up with all the hate mail he's been getting.
That is totally lame. And you played an active part in it. Not cool.
Active part?
Not at all, no. Like I said, I couldn't leave my response to the mod due to a site error.
At any rate, I wouldn't dream of sending hate mail. Neither would I accuse the creator of being racist. I pride myself with having some kind of common sense, thank you.
The mod itself, however, I find very problematic. Which is why I wished to leave a negative response. I recognise the work behind it, but I don't appreciate it. And if you upload your work to a website intended for public consumption, then you ought to be ready to deal with negative feedback.
Assuming it is constructive, of course. That anyone would take it so personal as to actually send hate mail is beyond me.
(And never mind the changes made by Bioware to Isabella between DA:O and DA2... but I guess those were not worthy of a negative tag for some reason... )

Probably because there isn't a lot of political baggage attached to a woman putting on a bandana. Modulo the graphical overhaul everyone was subject to, Isabela looks the same in DAII as she did in DA:O.

Isabela was always, always conceived as a dark-skinned, Rivaini woman.
I made the face for her in Origins myself [...]. I gave her the second darkest skintone we had available. Then I gave her brown hair, thinking it would be sun-bleached. I think the reddish cast might be from the lighting in the Pearl.
Sorry, what was that you were saying, Killjoy?

The facts of how she actually appears in the actual original game and the actual sequal are right there for anyone to see. Notice which change, however, causes the accusations of "ethno-revisionism" to be leveled.

While your personal taste in characters isn't really my thing, I greatly respect all your modding acumen and how helpful you've been to the whole community (I remember reading your posts about replacing heads in the early days of DAO), so it's nice to see that you're still able to mold Bioware's characters to your liking.
As far as the other debate in this thread, I think voting down the creepy white Isabela is a little tacky, live and let live after all, even if other people's version of living is icky to you (and taking a beautiful non-white character and bleaching her because you only find fair-skinned white women attractive is pretty gross IMO).

So it makes more sense to you that Sheryl Chee is wrong about the character she designed than that the combination of Origins' iffy skin shaders and the lighting in the Pearl is making Isabela, who incidentally looks like this under neutral lighting, appear paler than she actually is?
Okay then!
What I'm saying is, I find it interesting that when, in the original game she looked tanned and red-headed, and now in the sequel she is dark-skinned and darker-haired, no one is leveling charges of "ethno-revisionism". But... as soon as someone releases a mod that goes in the other direction, there are all sorts of veiled accusations of racism. People need to make up their mind.
That said... I typically don't care for mods that radically change the appearance of companions.
EDIT: typo.
