Wow, time to take another break from this ridiculous site.
Bisexuals? In MY game? (In regards to David Gaider's response to homophobe)

When you said asking for non-aggressive NPCs was like wanting "chaste little virgins with no personality diversity to romance" that's not very diplomatic.

Shavon, I'm sorry. I'll try to keep things a bit more respectful if you return. I just ask the same.

Yeah, exactly. Bioware in their ATTEMPT (poorly executed attempt at that) to be P.C. shows lack of character development which used to be their strong point over other companies. I have no issues with what they TRIED to do. My issue is how badly they did it.
In your opinion.
It's not poorly executed at all. I have a straight FemHawke, a bisexal FemHawke and a gay MHawke. The story has been playing out fairly well for them.
As you don't provide a decent reason for this, er, claim, your post is invalid.
Too bad real life friends don't act as Bioware claims they should by just putting unwanted advances on straight people. And that is actually a very poor stereotype of how gays supposedly act.
Basically Bioware makes Anders act the way homophobes think all gays act.

1: This is not limited to the m/m version of the romance....it's the same for the f/m one. The same thing happened with my LadyHawke and I gained Rival points. It's not even limited to Anders or this game and I've played through games with unwanted attention from potential straight romance party members. Like, DA:O. Alistair.
2: Given '1', I can't see how this has anything to do with bisexual romances in general.

Your real life friends. And as great as your friends may be they don't represent the entirety of all gay, straight or bi people in the universe. Anders just happens to be pushy and impulsive. This is not a stereotype, it's a character trait.

It could also be a very poor stereotype of how all straight men act...prone to make unwanted advances on women...
So, Alistair macking on my Warden is in poor taste?

I've no problem that Anders makes the first move, just that there isn't a "let him down gently" option. I deffeinately have no problem that all LI are bi. I prefer it even, sure it's a little unrealistic, but it's fair.jlb524 wrote...
Okay, people don't like that Anders makes the first move...fine.

It would be nice if they were. I personally dont see it as a problem. I tihnk its better that Bioware acknowledges that the player base is wide enough that they can allow for a variety of options.

That was going to be my next point, in response to Sheppard 7...ya got there before me Jib...
Its not about whether hes acting in a certain way as a gay person, or a bisexual person, or whatever...Anders merely makes the pass at Hawke, whatever gender Hawke happens to be in that runthrough. Hes acting like ANDERS, not like some stereotype gay person.

I say again, this is the same man who will become broody and resentful over the loss of a CAT. He is clearly more emotionally fragile than your average person.

You're allowed to say that's in poor taste as well. Just I didn't know the thread was about Alistair. He did advances in DA2 too? He was a drunkard in one playthrough and king in another that's married so is there a third playboy Alistair appearance in DA2?

I know but given everything else he has to deal with his excessive broodiness on this is telling.

..there should have been an option to remove him from the game earlier on for reasons that were clear later....<_<
Could have saved a lot of lives that were lost because of his emotionally fragile state.
Stoopid Anders.
Regardless. Thats off topic. Yes. There should have been a way to let him down easy. The only options you got were "Flirt" or "Intimidated". I didn't like that. Because that wasn't me nor my Hawke.

The flaw in your logic is acting as though any one charater should represent the majority of everyone with similar traits. the gay people you know may not make advances, but why wouldn't Anders? he's obviously attracted to Hawke, were i him, i'd make an advance too, how else would a relationship start? you take a risk, if it works, yay, if not, aww. Nothing risked, nothing gained.sheppard7 wrote...

He's portrayed as the stereotype. So it would be okay in your mind for Bioware to make a black hero in the next game that likes fried chicken and watermelon and looks like Chicken George to you? While that's not all of the race to be that way there are some who are. Does that make it right for Bioware to be that way?
Why stop there? Next it'll be jew stereotype. Then what's next for Bioware?

Anders being a little pushy because it's in is nature to need companionship is a stereotype?

This is true, It's just in my nature to be reeeeeaalllly tactful when it comes to the starting of relationships, and a tactful option was not given, hence my minor disapointment. no real effect on the game, as i finished with full frienship points, i just felt bad for a couple minutesThe Angry One wrote...

Heh, I'm perfectly willing to take any reasons people come up with. I just ask that others don't hound those of us who just voice that we would've liked it differently.
It's great that there are a variety of love interest for a more inclusive audience.
It's great that some of the LIs make the first move.
We just wanted Anders to be less pushy and suggest less aggressive LIs for the next game.
