Anyone just forget rogues altogether?

I find the two rogue NPC's rather boring... and not useful in combat.

In fact I think Bioware could have given rogues more purpose by putting more dangerous traps or allowing them to find an alternative way through cunning instead of fighting. Like sneaking past the monsters and such. It is possible already, but there is much more potential IMHO.
I rarely took Zev in my team, but I enjoyed the conversations. So to me he is not boring at all.

My Hero is a Human Rogue, and against many mobs his defense is high enough that he takes about as much damage as my tank -- yet he dishes out more damage consistently and can unlock almost any chest he's come across.
I've been able to run through parts of the Deep Roads with Zevran and two mages and have been fine -- but I like Oghren for his drunken comments to Morrigan so the other rogue's been sitting.

Both of us are playing on the PC on normal. Rogues are not useless, its a matter of specing them correctly and using them right.

Because you don't know how to spec/use them properly.
Properly specced and utilized in combat, rogues are amongt the deadliest characters.

An archer character does enormous damage with Arrow of Slaying. If you have an assassin marking targets, the archer does even more damage. You'll almost forget why you needed a warrior or a mage in some fights.
As for archery/dual wielding, you can focus your talent points toward arrow of slaying and momentum. There are also books of physical training which net you more talent points.
By the end of the game on my rogue, my rogue had all rogue talents, all duelist and assassin talents, and two archery talents.

But Leliana got better with her final bard song. She just stands by Morrigan and acts like a shield with her song.

I found it rather easy to make an awesome rogue. Thanks to the Fade stat boost and books, you can make a 30 (24+6 item bonus) coercion + lvl 4 locks and not gimp yourself.
Go full wit dual wield, assasin and duelist. 2 tier 7 weapons and things go down in seconds. Mark of dead, debuffs, evasion, poisons... too much goodies for a single melee toon.

I have to agree. I'm using the exact same setup, 2 rogues, Alistair and Morrigan. Rogues do devastating damage. My favorite class as well.Agni108 wrote...
I am currently playing a party with 2 rogues (the PC and Leliana), along with Alistair and Morrigan. We slice through mobs like a warm knife through butter--on Nightmare. Two backstabbing momentum rogues is very deadly. And where appropriate they open the battles with 2 simultaneous Arrows of Slaying from stealth = instant death for any yellow mob. There is nothing boring or underpowered about rogues. They are by far my favorite class in the game.

As I said before, I also only played with a melee + healer party. Singletargeting works really good for the most part, you can bash down almost anything with a few hits -going on the major spellcasters in the beginning wins you the battle just as easily if you would have had morrigan pumping out blizzards and cone of colds to all around the place (ok maybe not as easy but its definetly more challenging AND fun).
Discard all the comments about rouges being weak. They are AWESOME simply put.
