Bioware/EA must apologize for DA2 or else people will be hesitant to buy DA3.

No one wants another DA2, except maybe less than 1%. The rest of the 99% want DA3 to be done right.

When I read Laidlaw's interviews I come away with an overwhelming impression he's thinking, "The critics and gamers who don't like my game can go **** themselves. I'm rescuing their dying genre and (Arishok voice) THEY SHOULD BE GRATEFUL!"
Laidlaw doesn't seem to think he made any mistakes in making this game and his interviews all seem to say, "We made the right call, but people just don't get it. So we'll release another few games like this until they understand we're doing the right thing!"

I'm not thinking a formal apology is needed, but I'd love to see some hinting that they're hearing and internalizing the feedback in the interviews I read.

While I understand you there, I also saw him saying that they are collecting fan feedback on the forums and from user reviews to work with. I do hope that's true and not an empty promise.

I do look forward to the day, when previewing DA3, the next lead developer trashes DA2 like Laidlaw does DA:O though. That'll be fun.

I totally agree with you OP, I want them to distribute a signed apology letter with the signature of Mike Laidlaw and David Gaider and their admissal that they not only failed their fans they failed the Bioware name and ethos.

As rushed out as the third act was, as recycled as the environments were - at least in regards to some of the mayor criticism that is issued, that statement is pretty much spot on.

I hope you're right. It's entirely possible that his interviews come across the way that they do because he doesn't want to hurt the game's sales by admitting publicly what the feedback is telling him.
I'm very much hoping that is the case. If it is, then he may very well be defending the game publicly while admitting privately that they need to scale back/remove some of the changes that they tried out in DA2.
It is difficult to say for certain if his public statements are what he truly believes (very bad thing IMO) or if he's just saying them for the sake of the sales of the current game. (Entirely understandable.)
I'd like to think that you don't get to his level in a company without being able to read between the lines, and the fact that he's being forced to do the interviews at all should be clue enough that the game isn't getting the reception that he may have hoped for, which would cause a humble man to reevaluate his decisions in the next release.
Time will tell.

Don't want an apology - want an enhanced version at no cost that addressed all the issues.
Heh this is not CD project, EA would never do this, well if they did it would be $19.95.

And any company worth their salt should make every release as a standalone attempt to make a good game, or make a game better if part of a series. I personally think DA 2 went in a terrible direction in quite a few ways, but hopefully Bioware will regroup for DA 3. If not, I won't lose any sleep and I'm certainly not wanting or waiting for an apology. From my viewpoint they wasted their time, not mine.

Exactly. I loved DA2 a lot. But I do hope Bioware will see that it has some issues that need to be ironed out. And quickly. Put the best of both titles into DA3, that's what I'd like. (Just my opinion)

I'd be content with a clear promise that DA3 will be more like DAO and the fullfillment of that promise.

Seems to me that BioWare listens and reacts to the fans to give players what they want too easily at times. The very things that I have seen included in DA II are some of the same things fans have been clamoring for at various times.
Good point. I still remember the "Please make all LIs bi this time" threads.
