They don't have to apologize. They NEVER advertized this game as Dragon Age: Origins 2.

And yet they called it Dragon Age 2. Not "Dragon Age: Hawke's Adventure'' or something like that.

They don't need to apologize for the game itself but it'd be nice if they could at least tell us PC gamers that they haven't forgotton about us. That they're working on Dragon Age Origins 2, that they're working on a true sequel.

And imo they should apologize for the missing auto-attack, maybe Securom, HD patch at release, etc.
A lot of things went wrong and apologies would be nice ;).

Seems to me that BioWare listens and reacts to the fans to give players what they want too easily at times. The very things that I have seen included in DA II are some of the same things fans have been clamoring for at various times.

BioWare don't need to apologise. What BioWare, and by extension EA, need to do is listen to their frakking fans. We are, after all, the ones who put money into their coffers and spread the word. I'm not saying we're entitled to make their decisions for them, nor dictate what they do, but if there's a problem in Game 1, it needs to be fixed for Game 2. If it's still there by Game 3 (Note: Bethesda are pretty good to use here as an example), then it can, will and does count against them.

There was bound to be some disappointment with DA2 due to the massive changes from DA:O, and it was a risk BioWare took. I, personally, believe BioWare made the wrong decisions with DA2 but I don't expect them to apologise for that.

Going by what I've seen, DA2 is no buggier than any other game on the market, so kicking up a fuss and screaming about it is rather childish. Surely if you're a fan of BioWare, you'd know that their games range from extremely buggy to quite buggy and that they're far from the quickest patchers around? Boggles the mind, it really does.

No one wants another DA2, except maybe less than 1%. The rest of the 99% want DA3 to be done right.

No, because we want DA3, just as at least I didn't want another DAO for DA2. And who wouldn't want DA3 to be done right? (Just like DA2 was. *please don't kill me!*)

And where did you pull these numbers from? Because I have  to say, they do seem pretty solid when you say it like that. /sarcasm

Going by Laidlaw's recent comments if anything HE is the one expeccting an apology from us.

Mmmm... people didn't like that not everyone in DA:O was bisexual because it didn't fit their fanfic fantasies, so Bioware made everone sexable in DA2 regardless of what Hawke you chose.

Only if Brent Knowles apologizes too.

Don't think his absence didn't contribute to DA2's problems.

Think about this logically, the game received an amazing reception and critical acclaim and then the fanbase turned around and said hey wouldn't it be cool if this Dynasty Warriors, doesn't make sense right? that's because it never happened.

They don't need to apologize. They need to think over things. We don't know, and likely never will, the full story behind the decisions about DA2. What we do know is that the shedule was tight. (Why?) And that they needed to improve the playability on the consoles. (They did need to do that. Even as a critic of the game I understand that.) And we do know that the DA:O lead left. So someone needed to step in and make something of this. It's a rush job. As such it's almost remarkable, and Laidlaw obviously have some talents as a lead designer. Rest is PR-speak and damage control. So no apology.

How about they apologize in the form of a good Dragon Age game?

I don't think they need to apologize for anything. Even if they did i'd still be hesitant with DA3. The only thing I could imagine that would help allay some of that is if Laidlaw was replaced as lead, but I highly doubt they will.

I understand what you mean. Really, I do. But I also remember the countless requests for things that were implemented into DA2. The "Please Bioware, make all LIs bi in DA2" being a prime example.

Good point. I still remember the "Please make all LIs bi this time" threads. :P

However, as Gaider responded to the criticism over this,

"We have good numbers, after all, on the number of people who actually
used similar sorts of content in DAO and thus don’t need to resort to
anecdotal evidence to support our idea that their numbers are not
insignificant…"

"Numbers are not insignificant" I suspect is a polite way of telling straight people that many of them do cross over when they role play.  This being said, I still fail to understand why there could not be an opt-in/opt-out solution from the onset, but there are threads for discussing that.  The greater point is that the decision was based on firm numbers within the existing player base that warranted its inclusion.  Many decision changes for DA2 seem more based on preferences of outside markets that Bioware/EA would like to capture.

I don't think anyone had issue with the Bi if it actually made sense with their character. And they didn't punish you for not wanting to go that way, like they'd done with Anders.

The way it is right now everyone is Bi because it's just easier to placate everyone that way. More options are always better.

Bioware didn't listen to the community they did this because the easiest route was to underdevelop each character and just make them act the same towards every Hawke.

Granted, I've avoided the big thread on this, but I have noticed two things re: this issue.

1. The main complaints seem to be in the area of FORCED same-sex romances at times. For example, when you first meet Anders you are presented with a choice of either initiating a same-sex relationship if you play a guy or getting rivalry points. I don't think this is what people who complained before had in mind.

2. This seems to be a rather trivial issue compared to a lot of what is being complained about. (Combat changes, repetitive environments, not being able to equip your companions, lack of choices and differing endings, no continuation of the DAO storyline, etc.)

Really? I've encountered many different reactions to my different Hawkes. Everyone did react the same to my Warden all the time though. Warden dares to disagree with companion -> Approval loss. No romance or companion quest triggers. DAO was way more rigid in that regard.

Dragon age 2 is a great Game (with big G) and I dont see reason, why BioWare should apologize.
