Alright now that I have your attention. I just wanted to point something out that has been bothering me..

Why all the controversy? We are in 2011 now, gay people are here forever, have been here forever, and will always be...Get used to it. I appreciate everything Bioware did for "us", they gained a lot of respect from me. I hope they continue to create gay relationships in other games, not just fem-fem.

How come the gay controversy didn't start when we had fem-fem in Mass Effect 1,2 and DA:O? Ohh, that's right cause it's okay!! it's hot!! No, it's just unfair. Zevran has been the only male-male relationship I have seen since I started playing video games. I have been playing games since NES.

If they are really making you feel uncomfortable in the game...Turn them down? Don't pick conversation options with the heart Icon? Don't be overly nice in bad situations? Be real, get real.

I'm sure making this won't even matter, I live in a small town in the NC mountains, I know what it is like to be spit on,cussed, made fun of, for being who I am. The only thing that has gotten me through the anti-gay mess is a brighter future for acceptance. Bioware you took a step towards that in this game, you gained a loyal fan. Just know that the majority of us don't care about the bisexual relationships. It's just the select few ignorant people that attempt to make it seem like it is a big deal.
I'm done ranting, signing off....
Loyal Gay Bioware Fan,Cole   Peace.:wizard:

It did but it was shutdown because Bioware was still reeling from Fox News Scandel. Since tempers have cooled off a bit Bioware can more easily bring about change. It was the smart thing to do even if I didn't agree with it intitially. After all, Bioware has to appease Stock Holders and if they jumped the gun or endorsed things more openly in the past it would have given them bad PR.

I am by all means not a homophobe and see absolutely no problem with homosexual relationships in games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age but...

It was just implemented kind of poorly. Dialog which is supposed to nix a romance is supposed to have a broken heart icon. I believe they failed to put that in. Folks didnt choose 'hostile' option when first approached by him and after that your sol unless you pick a rude option.

At least that's from what I gather. I play a female hawke, and just agree that he is unsuitable when he starts whining.

There IS a broken heart icon to reject him.

The other dialogue two had normal heart icons.

Cause some people are just idiots. The whole drama here was started by a single man, not a mob.

I'm a Christian and even I don't see what the big deal is. Its a game, people like what they like and live way they want to live and its their right to do so.

The person making a big deal over DAII is just acting like a big baby.

The problem for me was more the fact that I never picked anything flirtatious. I just picked supportive options, because you know.. just trying to be a decent human being? Fellow Mage with problems and all.
But it seems regular supportive options just make him jump to 'I want you' within 3 seconds. (No seriously, second conversation with Anders or so) And, although I found humorous, I did find it a little sad.. odd mostly. Because in Awakening he did not strike me as someone that would even be remotely interested in a homosexual relationship.

I'm more than fine with homosexual relationships being in my games (I won't really notice them anyway most of the time) but preferably I wish there were just more choices. I find it a little bit of a shame that all of them are bisexual.. Because it just seems a little unrealistic to me that all of them are. Preferably I'd had just seen more romance options with some set straight and gay romances.

People just want an option to avoid the Anders romance without eating Rivalry or missing dialogue, which was a marketing point for DA2 and every other party member in the game has.

I assume what most people complain about is that the broken heart option gives you +10 Rivalry. Basically it is impossible to earn Friendship in that conversation with either gender unless you flirt with him. To be honest, +10 Rivalry isn't really going to hurt any future friendship unless you weren't going for one anyway, in which case it might even be a boon. I fail to see any issues.

I'm sick of people posting that comic. The guy who made it is an idiot, it's factually inaccurate and Ctrl+Alt+Del has never been particularily funny.

Hell, I had someone post that comic in response to my statement that you can easily reject Anders as a rebuttal. AS IF THAT OVERRIDES THE GAME. Just wow.

Which you can do.

Could use work... Hopefully it's improved for ME3 and DA3.

Also, Anders seems the type to be very flirty anyway.

It's factually accurate if you come from Zeta Reticuli and aren't aware that humans equate gigantic glowing hearts with romance, yes.

I never saw it as a big deal i didn't see zevran as a big deal in origins either. whats wrong with eating a few rivalry points its not much and still quite easy to get max friendship anyway.

Lol, comic was pure W1N,

But the man has a point. Since the game is going to be played by people with varied tastes, choices on sexual matters should be available.

My opinion is that with ME2 BioWare took a step back in that regard but in DAII - although it comes straight in your face from time to time - they've woven a more intricate design. Kudos.

10 rivalry isn't that bad. There are plenty of opportunities to get Friendship with Anders, it's not the end of the world. I'm glad DA2 allows fans to have their Hawke be straight or gay and explore relationships with more than one character.

By the way, why does Anders have no pupils in that comic?
