Well, as stated in the topic title i can't get my outdoor level to do 'all local posts' succesfully.
It's a town by the sea, i have 0 issues with pathfinding and lightmapping before attempting to post all to local.
I've tried it both under the SP module and my own, no difference. I had some reskinned textures, removed those from override folder, no luck. Every time windows will toss up an error that RPU.exe has stopped responding and needs to be closed, after that obviously the export fails.
Looking at the details of the windows error popup it states: "Problem Event Name: BEX"
I've googled it and in responce to findings tried to turn off DEP in windows for all the executables the toolset uses, no change.

I then made a new (smaller) outdoor level and attempted to export it, no issues at all.
I'd say it's safe to assume the problem is specific to the level, but seeing the amount of time i've spent building it i'd appreciate any insights somebody here might have. I'd rather have rebuilding the level be my last resort obviously =)

Below is a piece of the Log Window:

E: 21:45:30 - Local Posts Failed!
S: 21:45:30 - Export Summary, 1 Requested, 0 Success, 0 Skipped, 1 Failed.  Please see below for more details.
I: 21:45:30 - Offers.xml file has been updated successfully.
I: 21:45:30 - AddIns.xml file has been updated successfully.
I: 21:45:30 - PostProcessing
E: 21:45:29 - gwaren-ext1.lvl - Exporter FAILED for resource: gwaren-ext1.lvl
E: 21:45:29 - Failed to post layout [gwtest1] locally.
E: 21:45:29 - RPU process failed with a return code of '-1073741811'.
I: 21:11:32 - Done copying files. Resource post completed.
I: 21:11:18 - Resource build completed. Copying files to output folder.
I: 21:11:18 - SKU successfully created.
I: 21:11:17 - Building SKU...

I have the latest version of the toolset. (v1.0.1008.0)
I'm running on an Athlon XP 64 X2 DualCore 6000+ (3.1 ghz) with 3 gigs internal mem. Windows 7 64 Ultimate.

Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem with the level might be that's causing RPU.exe to crash and burn?
Any help is highly appreciated.

Solution (for me):
RPU process failed with a return code of '-1073741811'. <-- Turn off Identity Protection in AVG Antivirus.

Would you be willing to upload the level somewhere so that other modders could check it on their machines?
For levels it could be different issues. I am not an expert but making a copy and maybe deleting objects might help to pinpoint the problem.
Another thing is the light mapper, what version are you using? Maybe there is an updated version out there that could help solve the issue.

Have you seen this note on the Resource Builder?

Did you try deleting your start point, then entering it again?

If that doesn't help, try putting the full text of the RPU error message into your search engine. There have been quite a few articles on related problems.

I have tried deleting the startpoint and making a new one, rerunning pathfinding from scratch.
I've also tried throwing away ALL plc and prp/houses etc from the level, keeping just the collisionwalls and vegetation, no luck.

It can't be an issue with file-pathing for the export, seeing as i exported another outdoor level just fine.

I have googled the issue extensively, found some people with a 'similar' error but none with the same/matching conditions. The RPU error number doesn't tell me anything either, it's basicly boolean for "you didn't say the magic word", as any other code bar 0.
I've also tried finding out what RPU.exe actually does as part of the export process in the hopes of narrowing down where the problem might be coming from but found 0 information. I've seen 0 accounts of people mentioning their RPU.exe actually crashed, instead of just spewing a error in the log window of the toolset.

@Apolyon6k I have the newest version of the lightmapper script.
I can upload the level somewhere if people are interested in having a look, but i'll warn you it's big, it's a heavy load and the error always comes up just at the end of exporting, which takes a good hour to get to. I'll go grab the files in a rar and update this thread when i have them someplace downloadable though.

Edit:  removed link

Additionally btw, I've ran the export while monitoring my memory/CPU and HD usage to see wether something funky was happening on either front at the point of crashing (because the level is quite heavy), but noticed nothing weird.

Also, is packing up the .lvl file enough for people to open the level up in their editor?

Right, I just made another random level and exported it to have RPU.exe crashing on me again.
Going to re-install the toolset, see whether that makes a difference.

edit: still crashes. bwaaah

In your "documents\\bioware\\dragonage\\toolset\\logs" is a log file for rpu with the date of usage.
Maybe there might be some hints to why it crashed.

Edit:
Successful local post on my machine.
The memory usage displayed in the toolset jumped up to 2.4 GB at the beginning of rendering lightmaps.
I did load it up in single player, render the lightmaps, render light probes, generate pathfinding and after that did an all local post.
My PC has 6 GB RAM and I have an I7 CPU running Windows 7 64Bit Ultimate.

There were a few warning messages but no error that would stop the local post.

There is a guide to clear lightmaps at http://bg2redux.stud...gLightmapFiles.

Maybe you could try to clear the previously rendered lightmaps, delete the erf file that was generated and try another local post.

But if it even crashed on a test level, there might be something else that causes it.
Like I stated in my previous post the memory usage jumped up a lot during processing so maybe the toolset needs a lot of it to work properly. Unfortunately we have no real numbers on hardware requirements for the toolset but it sure uses a lot of memory. On startup it shows about 900 mb without anything open.

@Apolyon6k Yeah i did run the export while running the hardware monitor with additional monitoring on my harddisk, however i didn't see the toolset eating more then i have available CPU, mem or HD wise. Memory usage, as you say, spikes up to 2.4gigs here too, cutting it awfully close on my system but then it would be illogical that'd be the issue seeing the smaller testlevel only took about 1-1.5gigs of memory but also crashed at the exact same point.
Edit: Stupidly and weirdly I did have one testlevel make it through the local export successfully yesterday, so i'm stumped. It's not a consistent issue, although atm when trying nothing works and my 'actual level' has never successfully exported.

Atm i'm trying to export using the "manage exports" out of the actual menu, no clue whether it will make a difference but nearing 'crash-point' atm, so we'll see.

Thank you alot for running the export on your system, then at least i know for certain it's not something in my level or way of building screwing it all up, then I can finish the level for asfar as i can without seeing how things look ingame, find some solution to this problem meantime.

I have actually cleared the lightmaps and tried again without succes earlier today. (funnily still have that exact link still opened =p)
I've also removed everything but the .lvl file and tried that without succes.
I then reinstalled the toolset, database and lightmapper script, tried again without succes.

I haven't the slightest, still, why the RPU.exe keeps crashing for me.
Anyways, yeah =) Many thanks for the time you took to test it for me =)

I'll check the rpu log after this export and see whether i can get anything out of it.

Ok.. another crash using export -> do all export operations
It crashed on the step where it posts the layout to local.

rpu logfile only shows info messages. Nothing for the crashtime at all. Last info post at 11:00 pm, crash at 11:25pm.
Last few lines:

I've just confiscated my boyfriends pc to try the export there, had to install the whole shabang, but getting the same error there. Seeing as his pc is way more powerfull then my own, maybe i have done something wrong in the install of the game/toolset/python after all?

- Dragon Age Origins is (as far as i can figure from the patchlogs) on v1.03
- The toolset is the v1.1 installer (toolset itself shows v1.0.1008.0)
- The lightmapper script is v.1.2 (taken from http://social.biowar...ject/717/#files)
- Python 2.5.4 + the win32 extensions for Python 2.5 (as per instructions taken from http://social.biowar...set#Lightmapper)

Maybe i should try ActiveState Python 2.5.5.7 instead of the win32 extensions for Python 2.5?
I'll give it a shot on my pc now Oo
If this is the case i'll be smashing my head into a brick wall tonight, that's for sure.
Running the lightmapper alone gave me no issues, i'd never have guessed it might be the python install tbh.
Anyways, trying, maybe i'm wrong.

I tried exporting your level and got the same error also. However, I have had problems with that big oak before... so I deleted it. I got all the other trees to export, but only the trees.

I've changed my python install to the activepython one, trying to export again atm.
I'll keep that comment on the tree in mind, if i run into issues with the export again now i'll remove it.

Edit: I've ran the export once now, ran into the tree issue you mentioned this time around. Took your advice, replaced the big oak model, running the export again now, very hopefull!

Argh. Nope. Still crashed RPU.exe
Excuse me while i go hurt something fluffy =(

Ok! plan B, change python install on my bf's pc and see what that one does ><

Edit: Changed to ActivePython on his system, ran tree export, no error for the big oak on his system.
Ran export all to local, RPU.exe crashed.

Ok well i'm out of bright ideas heh. I can't help but feel that the fail on a second machine must be because i'm making a mistake somewhere and not seeing it.. I mean, what are the odds?
He's got a quadcore with 4gigs DDR3, same windows (7 64 Ultimate) granted, completely different machine from mine.
For arguments sake i'll remove the big oak model from the .lvl on his system too and run the exporter again.
I mean, with python 2.5 + win32 libs before i got no tree-error, only showed up after i changed to ActivePython, maybe it's just.. leading me on not telling me to go f myself. We shall see.

Anyone have any ideas still?

Just for comparison:
I have the game on v1.4, its the ultimate edition.
Toolset is the same version, with light mapper at the latest version afaik(v1.2).
python is 2.5.4 (+ win32 I think. Installed it in november last year so I'm a little fuzzy on the exact details) The system memory is 6GB.

The rpu log is useless, sorry about that, but the toolset log could be helpful. Does it show the details at the time of the crash?
Mine shows some warning messages about missing lightmaps and some sound related issues but those are only warnings not errors.

Not sure why it works on my system and not on three others.

Do you use AVG anti-virus? If so try temporarily disabling the 'Identity Protection' and also ensure that you do not have any Windows Explorer windows open at the time that you attempt the operation.

I was having the exact same error code '1073741811' and this worked for me. I believe that it is down to the RPU utility not having sufficient permissions to move files.

I am running on Win 7 64bit with UAC turned off. This seems to have numerous issues with security in that I very frequently get errors stating that I need permission from myself to delete folders from my 'My Documents' folder. I found the solution is to delete all the subfolders and then try again, but I think the Win 7 64bit is very flakey when it comes to the implementation of it security model.

That reminds me, I run the toolset as administrator.
Windows 7 locks access to the system partition for all users by default.

Yep both systems run AVG. Turned off identity protection on both systems now, going to run the toolset as admin on my comp aswell, starting export on both now, i'll let you guys know =)

You know it's funny but i was quite down yest cause I ran out of things i could think of trying heh.

Edit: Don't ask me why it went so fast, but on my bf's comp it's done. Only thing is his system gives an error on can't verify Addins.xml, but i've seen fixes floating round for that so i'll look into it =) No more crashing of RPU.exe =D

I can not begin to say how much i appreciate the help guys, you all rock.

Glad to hear that this worked for you.

I had also been trying for a while to work out what the root cause was...I was nearly at the stage of sacrificing a black cockerel at the next full moon when I stumbled on the solution, so I understood your frustration.

btw...I also noticed a huge performance increase which was an added bonus :-)
