Their major problem is balancing encounters, since it's a global change.

Good point.

It makes enemy archers tougher, which can be a pain given the way so many encounters are set up with enemy archers in a hard to reach place (especially if you don't use aoe mages in your party). But it's worth it, and I run with it, because it improves dagger/cunning rogues and archers in general so much, making the characters so much more viable.

It's fine on hard, except the infamous Denerim alleys which were broken anyway. (It's more the problem of having a half dozen Scattershots go off every time you blink...)

I'm having a spot of bother in getting this hotfix to run. I can't seem to find the Overide file i that the pathing requires. Do I create this file or id it hidden away somewhere I can't see it

This fix is amazing!

Enemy archers are much stronger making my no mage hard mode run a lot more interesting.

The old one is on here somewhere, I think it fixes the dex for daggers only and not bows, for anyone using daggers and not wanting the increase in difficulty of enemy archers.

the old one did not work as intended testing showed it was not giving daggers the correct dex bonus and infact peopel were not showign any increase in dagger damgae with it  which is why they made the new one  which also corrected dex/damage for bows

Apparently, all Steam users have been running 1.01b since November 5th (at least, that's what my steam update news claims). So i'd say it definitely works with 1.01b.

If you don't have an override directory under /packages/core just create one and put the files in there

There was one fight with 6 or 8 enemy archers that I had to disable it for. Then I reenabled it afterwards.

All 1.01b did from 1.01a was fix some computer stuff. Don't worry about missing out on anything.

When can we expect that to arrive? I do hope us console users can get some lovin' as well, seeing as we apparently got no hotfix.

We didn't, right?

There can be no hotfixes for consoles, only approved title updates, and those take time.

What do you mean by this Bioware?

This hotfix applies to all creatures in the game, not just the party members. Due to enemies outnumbering the party in most situations, the benefits of better ranged weapons act asymmetric in favor of enemy groups. \\\\Installing this hotfix will cause a steep increase in difficulty by almost a full level for any encounters that include multiple archers. If you are having trouble with easy or normal difficulty, stay away from this hotfix until we have updated it to offset these effects.

"The plan for the final patch is to not address this issue for Hard and Nightmare difficulty, causing an increase in game difficulty on both settings. "

http://dragonage.gul...rity_hotfix_101

Does that mean the encounters will be adjusted cuz of the difficulty bump in the hotfix for easy/nromal but hard/nightmare won't be touched just fixed right?
