Why do the Qunari absolutely hate them?
I get the idea that it's because the Tal Vishoth left them and abandoned the Qun?

As I understand that, to Qunari only Qunari are actual people. Others are just filthy animals, things, that sometimes can be enlightened by the Qun and made into real people, persons. So, when a person decides to become a filthy thing abandoning all that makes it a person? They hate Tal-Vashoth like we hate crazy serial killer cannibals and perverted child molesters. It is debatable if Qunari are right in their beliefs.

Yes. You answered your first question with your oddly phrased second one.
A bas just hasn't been enlightened, a Tal'Vashot has rejected the truth. In the mind of a Qunari.

Think about it. The Qunari think that they've reached absolute truth. They can pity the others who never knew the Qun and fight it.
But for one of their own who lived in the Qun and should have seen its "perfection" to leave? That compromises the idea that they've reached perfection. Since they don't want to re-evaluate their position, the only logical conclusion is that the Tal vashoth are heretical traitorous idiots who abandoned their duty and rejected the "self-evident truth".
It is not dissimilar from the attitude of real world ideologies / religions. They usually hate the heretics within much more than those on the outside.
EDIT: ninjaed by Herr.

What ever happened to the Tal Vashoth cutting off their horns? That was their big "This isn't a retcon." argument about the horned Qunari.
