It'd be so much more fun! And less tedious.

definitely! the waves idea is a good one for making a few fights different and interesting, but to say they overdid it would qualify as the greatest understatement in human history

I think this would actually be really fun to have it done this way. Also, it may just make nightmare ridiculous.
However, I don't know if it can be done without a toolset, or more knowledge about the file types.

Waves in boss fights is alright, but I agree, in most areas I'd rather they all spawned at once. In regards to Nightmare, you could probably lower it's difficulty to adjust to more enemies spawning at once. I'm not a modder, so I have no idea how this could be done.

I agree with this. The waves were kinda lame. Paratrooper ninjas dropping from the sky was far too immersion breaking.

Well, there is already a Nightmare Tweaks mod on DANexus that essentially unlocks friendly fire on lower difficulties.

I meant modding the spawning, already had a look at the Nightmare Tweaks.

What's really bad is when they just pop up out of thin air, exactly where you're standing.
I think Bioware expected player to charge into fights that start right when you enter an area, so that the mobs would appear behind you in the subsequent waves. But if you play like I do, and try to kill as much as you can at range, you're standinf right where they spawn.
Of course, it makes also makes no sense when you have cleared a long, narrow hallway and all rooms attached to it, and then suddenly there are more mobs spawning right behind you...
