Warning: I'm being selfish.

In my ending (everyone's ending?) it is mentioned that the Templar have split from the Chantry, but continue to do their work. In my opinion, this could be an oppurtunity to present an order that has been potrayed as either psychotic or completely spinless in a new, interesting light.

So far, the closest we have experienced to having a Templar companion is Alistair and Wesley. Alistair is an ex-Templar who is not only quite disparaging about the Order, but was really thrown into the group and never really felt comfortable with their creed. Wesley seemed to understand very little about the Templar's role in protecting human life, by attempting to arrest Bethany when an entire party of civilians were attempting to escape the Blight rather than keeping an eye on her for later. Even Aveline bemoans the presence of paranoid, misguided Templars in Kirkwall (albiet, they're Meredith's extremists).

Though I understand many Templars may not get to see a lot of action, due to their posting being primarily in large cities, the new Chantry-less Templars are perhaps more seasoned warriors. In this dark, post-DA2 world it seems every sword will be bared, and the Templars are primarily a military order. A Templar (or perhaps even one of those stealthy Templar Hunters to buck the stereotype?) companion that balances strong, military sense and zeal would really interest me.

Am I misguided in how I've read Templars written through the games? Is anyone else interested in seeing Templars portrayed more like the ultra-compentant, Abomination-slaying thin, red line?

It would be interesting if you could play a Templar in DA3.
I know it would be a lot of work, creating more than 1 origin story...
Could maybe have Templar trainee origin, Mage apprentice origin, underworld Rogue origin.

Focusing on Templar here cos it's interesting me currently:
I think I would enjoy playing a disenchanted Templar who is caught up in the changes of the Order and what's going on around him / her.
Perhaps could start off as an Initiate as the confusion kicks off from DA2's ending. Perhaps even Cassandra's squire.

The way the story is set up for DA3 we will have a templar, apostate mage or seeker in our party.

I agree. It should be Cullen, he's grown so much as a character and seems like really like Hawke.

Either Cullen or a Lyrium-addicted Templar would be cool, seeing how our companions need to have major issues.

At this point I'm open to any sort of party member, as long as we don't have to suffer through another elf. Fenris has ruined elves for me, forever. Even Zevran is only just tolerable enough for me not to kill him.

Hawke: "Fenris man, we're all meeting at the Hanged Man for drinks tonight, you in?"
Fenris: "In Tevinter, the wine is made from the blood and sweat of slaves"
Hawke: "Umm, ok... so... is that a no?"

Gaider, If you're going to write an elf at least make him/her a proud, badass Dalish who doesn't whine and brood. Or have a humble, unconfident Alienage elf who we help break out of his/her shell of oppression and poverty. And who doesn't brood/disapprove of every action you make.

Cullen, DEFINITELY Cullen as a companion. He's grown SO much since DAO (and it makes sense considering a decade passes in DA2). I was very impressed with whoever wrote him, he has IMO grown the most as a character out of both games.

Might Cassandra be the Seeker who could be part of the main group in DA3? I'd wonder if she'd try to bring a templar and a mage (I doubt any of them are technically apostates now that the Circles broke free) in an attempt to negotiate peace with all sides involved.

The Seekers are interesting, after DA2 they seem like a peace seeking inquisition (if that makes any sense lol).

And I'd like Cassandra (or any Seeker) as a party member.
From what I read (taken from the DA Wiki) they are supposed to watch the Templars, like the Templars watch the Mages.
That would make an interesting party interaction.
