In fact, sometimes this one thinks and talks like afforementioned species. He wonders if the others do this as well.
This one likes hanar.

The hanar are overrated and just plain annoying. And pointless. It's like they're supposed to be funny, but they're not. I really hope Bioware doesn't waste disc space on them for ME3.

They freaked me out on the first playthrough. Waaaayy too non-humanoid. And I had to turn the sound down. Eventually I got used to them.

Man, this one hears much negativity regarding the only truly alien species in the Mass Effect series.
This one questions Lapis Lazuli's love of science fiction due to his/her reaction.
This one is also compelled to point out that he finds nothing wrong with the Hanar and in fact would welcome further exploration of their culture as they are a uniquely different and underdeveloped species.
This one desires to visit the Hanar homeworld of Kaje for the dual purpose of visiting the Hanar in their place of origin and seeing more drell.

I didn't mind their speech patterns at all, or their incessant politeness- in fact I was used to it from having an RPG character of the Gand Species from Star Wars for a long time. They too have conventions involving speech and names. I found the inclusion of an utterly 'alien' species refreshing, and Zaeed's admonition that he would never underestimate one again was also a nice touch. True, the Elcor are not humanoid per se, but the Hanar are truly alien. At least they're not Star Trek Aliens (I.E. different people with something random glued to their foreheads and elaborate code of dress, *maybe* a different skin tone) ... I don't really see the justification for including a Hanar squadmate or ship crewman, anymore than I can see reasons for a volus (Elcore is a different story- mobile heavy weapons platform ftw!) but they have a well written backstory and mannerisms that truly individualize themselves as a worthy part of the galaxy. Could be worse, they could have been as straightforwardly annoying as the Vorcha, who no matter how hard I try, can't justify letting them live whenver I see them, they do nothing to erase the perception of their people as mere ill tempered vermin.

Yes, the hanar species is very interesting, I was hoping to see more of them in Mass Effect 2. I think there's a possibility to include non-combatant squadmates in Mass Effect 3 (like the ones in Jade Empire), a volus would be grear as a banker, or as an administrator of the squad's incoming credits and items (yes, I think there should be more loot in ME3, like there was in ME1, but easier to organize). A hanar could work in the Normandy as an interspecies diplomat, maybe the hanar in question should be a friend of Thane (so it could be easier for him to adapt). An elcor squadmate?. . . it could be fun, they're very strong, they could have a melee based class.
Mmmm, melee, there's another thing missing since ME1. When I saw Thane's trailer for ME2, I thought there would be a new class focused on melee combat, and that the Krogan members could use it too.
Well, I think I'm way off topic now. Anyway, I wanted to share with you a poster I made for the movie "Blasto: The Jellyfish Stings" (I know there's already a thread about it, but it was taking me forever to find it). So, here he is, Blasto, the hanar spectre.

I support Blasto as a squad mate in ME3.

I love the Hanar. I find them to be very interesting. Amazing how they can "walk" on land at all. At first site I was nervous to approach one. and it was difficult to understand its point of view. Bioware did a hell of a job making sure that happened. I love it. I think if more detail was put into ME3, we might see more Hanar on the Citadel swimming through the presidium Lake.

This one wonders if "Hah Yes Reapers" considers himself fortunate.
