I miss you Mass effect 1
Your massive enviroments
Your 80s/Techno style Sci-Fi
Your costumisation
Your intresting villians
Your deep and twisting plot
Your godly music

I know I can play ME1 when ever I want but still as much as I love ME2 it's a shame to have seen so much of what made the first game great gone in ME2
Don't get me wrong I love ME2 and I am thoroughly impressed with the amazing job BioWare did with the game
But whilst BioWare improved the combat, tweaked the graphics and more I feel as if BioWare should have been more faithfull to the first game

And if you want your nostalgai vision magnified try this:
masseffect.bioware.com/me1/index.html

So hopefully ME3 will just have a few more of the elements of ME1

This is the way I look at ME1 and ME2.

ME1 is the game I always wanted. A emotinal, epic, action packed ride
through space to save the galaxy. A blend of traditonal RPG elements,
modern 3erd person shooter combat and my own personal veichle is a game
play match in heaven. Couple that with absolutley jaw dropping
atmosphere, 10/10 music and stunning locations and ME1 seemed like the
perfect game for me.

But it isn't perfect. Theres the recycled
enviroments, horrible menus, crappy AI and bad controls on the Mako to
name just a few issues.

However as I said, everything ME1 set out
to be was everything I wanted in a game. Aaaand...it didn't pull it off
perfectly but give it a sequal or two and you have everything good.

But ME2 didn't do that. Instead it went in a different, less creative and smaller direction.
And for the most part ME2 came damn close to perfection for what it was trying to accopmlish.
.

So I this is a thread for disscussing what we would like from ME1 to return

TL;DR Just read the last sentence
=]

Edit: I have now created a group for people who miss ME1 here it is:
social.bioware.com/group/4077/#group
(We now have over 130 members!)

2nd Edit: I have changed the title to "What we miss from ME1"

3rd Edit: I have now stated that we have reached over 40 pages in the title

4th Edit: I have now included a poll here it is:
http://social.biowar...14/polls/17622/

5th Edit: I've now added some extra thoughts on ME1 and ME2 I've had.

6th Edit: Fixed some stupid formating issues. Man this site is badly designed...

P.S. Please keep the ME1 vs ME2 disscussions to a minimun. This thread's primary purpose is to talk about what features people miss from ME1. Thats not to say there can't be any disscusion on which is better but unlike some other threads this is not the main focus. Oh and all trolling or spamming will be reported. We already got hit by Man-Girrafe-Dog so lets make sure it dosen't happen again.

Get over it, ME2 is the crowning jewel of shooters/RPGs..... until ME3 arrives anyway.

EDIT: No point in a discussion. ME3 is finished, has been in development since Dec. 2009, devs have stated that some have made complete playthroughs of the game.

No arguments from me.

Personally what I miss most about ME1 is the larger environments, in particular stuff like Port Hanshan on Noveria and the Citadel presidium, wards, tower, etc.

I would also like to see the return of the disguised loading screens.

Just add that in with what they had in ME2....it would be amazing.

Well, Mac Walters did say that they'd be bringing more big levels, to paraphrase. Though he did also say to interpret that as you wish.

Only things I miss from the first game are Wrex, the awesome end theme that was M4 part II, the larger hubs, and the cleverly disguised loading screens. Seriously what idiot game testers said "Mass Effect 2 is awesome, but you know what would make it better? Getting rid of the cleverly disguised loading screens like elevators with inter-party banter and replacing them with boring traditional loading screens! Boy I sure do love staring at boring traditional loading screens, it adds so much to the gaming experience."

The Mass Effect crew could really learn something from Dragon Age 2 as far as inter-party banter goes, that's for sure.

uh, then why not go and play it?

I think ME2>ME1, since, you know, the game is actually playable.

I said in the OP that the point of this thread is what we think should return from ME1 not why ME1 is better than ME2
and how is ME1 unplayeble

I don't know who voices in DA, but in ME, it's top people who happen to be stars. You have to give those people big checks. Paying them just for "miscellanious" dialog seems like a waste of a lot of money that can go somewhere better.

The only big star in Mass Effect is Sheen.

Yvonne is kind of B-list, Lance Henrickson hasn't been in a decent movie...in forever.

How DARE you put down ME2!!! It was perfect!!!

Just kidding.

(Whispers)...I miss it, too. The retro music was phenomenal. Playing Mass Effect was like playing video games for the first time.

I always found it kind of funny how ME2 was said to be the "dark second chapter", and it seems to be in more ways in one; some fans find themselves pining for the golden days of fighting a rogue Spectre and his synthetic army with a close band of friends. I wonder how Shepard felt when he/she woke up and found that they had been gone for two years.

Probably should have clarified.

The only person who voices a squadmember that has any real fame is Yvonne. Everyone else is a bunch of no namers or professional voice actors.
