I know most folks hated the Mako but.........

What I miss about ME1, was the cool scene of slam, bounce as your ship dropped the Mako. It felt like a big tough machine in all respects. I missed exploring, and feeling like I had come across a battle scene or ancient relic that no one had visited for years or 100's of years. Those small things mattered to me, even if it was just fluff.

The only thing wrong with the Mako to me was Bioware needed to tighten up the slushy controls, and not make every explorable planet have annoying vertical walls. I think that would have satisfied most people.

In ME1 I felt like I was exploring and traveling, the Mako was a part of that IMHO. In ME2 it felt more I was being teleported to combat maps. I never once felt like I was exploring unknown space or areas except for going through the Omega relay. Even that was a letdown, I never got to check out any of the 100's of ships floating there. It was get your crew together---->game over.

I guess I am saying I want more a sense of exploration.

ford what are you on about, that wouldnt be 1.5 that would be what 2 SHOULDVE been

you think if a game doesnt change its core gameplay for the sequel then its 'stale'?

That's not at all what I said.  And anyway, the core gameplay did not change from ME1 to ME2.  It was an action/rpg in the first game, and it was an action/rpg in the 2nd game.  You played with 2 squadmates, used a variety of powers and talents along with assorted weapons in the 1st game, and that remained true in the second game.  I could go on and on.

But while retaining the core gameplay, they changed enough to where it didn't feel like just an epansion pack.  They changed the armor and weapon setup, they improved the way you used your squadmates, they added some new powers, removed some others, and improved the way you used them, allowing you to curve them around and over cover, for instance, you got a team, a new ship, new planets.  And ME2 in general had an overall different look and feel.  It felt like a new, different game, and a new experence, not just a continuation of the first game with all the same attributes.

If all the stuff listed in this thread had been carried over from the first game, ME2 would have been nothing more than a glorified expansion pack.

The Mass Effect crew could really learn something from Dragon Age 2 as far as inter-party banter goes, that's for sure.

If it's stupid banter 'I like big boats and I cannot lie' then no, Mass Effect has nothing to learn from DA2.  I would like to see the characters chat with each other more but without the stupid clever 'wink wink, nudge nudge' that some of the DA2 banter seemed to have.  I like the DAO style banter; ie Morrigan and Alastair quietly expressing their loathing of each other; that was nicely done.  Developed the characters and was entertaining as well.  That would be appreciated in ME3.

and actiong RPG??? im confused by this.

is red dead redemption an RPG?

then neither is ME2.

if ME2 was a continuation of ME1, then it woulda been the second best game i ever played.

I miss the awkward elevator conversations/music and the decontamination scene when the shore party returns to the normandy.

I'm kinda all for decontamination scenes, if they are like the Star Trek: Enterprise decontamination scene. Complete with baby oil and T'Pol:)

So I guess its agreed that the community has reached the concensus that they want elevators instead of loading screens?

True, I only saw it cause there were two "vertical stabilizers" instead of one.

I miss the facial animations.

ME2 is terrible on that department.

Kelly is a very pretty girl, but when she smiles, her face looks absolutely disgusting. Just look at her face when she talks to you after the date.

ME1's facial animations were way better.
