Someone want to explain this 80's scifi thing? I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

I have to agree, ME1 does not feel like 80s sci-fi film, what films are we talking about here...

We generally mean influences such as Blade Runner, 2001: Space Odyssey, Empire Strikes Back, Alien, Aliens... that you see hints of with the lens flares, the heavy synth soundtrack and focus on ambient music, the saturated lights that contrast with the dark backdrops, etc.

Basically, the "retro" sci fi style as opposed to the current Hollywood mainstream. Blade Runner vs. Avatar, if you want an example.

Edit: I want to add that ME1 had its own combination of those influences, and influences from certain renowned sci fi artists whom I can't really remember, but I know that Bioware mentioned them as having influenced the art style of the ME series.

Blade Runner is a 1982 science-fiction movie starring Harrison Ford

Here you go

If you have a Netflix account, I believe it is up for Instant Queue. It's really good in my opinion.

The oldest movie I've ever seen is scarface (the modern ver.), I don't like black/white movies.... or ones with bad effects, which I presume this one has.

Ahem. BOULDER.

I'll be 20 this Thanksgiving and even I know about Bladerunner. But you can't blame some folks for not knowing.

Although it IS odd that Bladerunner gets brought up so much on these boards and only NOW he asks about it.

I'm more impressed that he hasn't seen any movies that are older than 1983. That's, like, criminal!

I'm 20, btw, and I love me some modern classics. Nothing wrong with dated effects imo.

I'll be 21 in a couple of months. I wouldn't even know about Blade Runner if it wasn't for my uncle. He's big on the 80's scifi stuff. Blade Runner is now one of my top 5 favorite movies...second place in fact, directly below The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

Don't ask.

I miss the background music that was in the Citadel, Noveria and Feros. I don't like how in ME2 there is no background music for places like Illilum, Citadel, The Flotilla etc.........

I liked being on the Citadel in general, in particular the presidium. It's one of my favorite places in Mass Effect 1.

This.

Although I did like the little sounds I noticed, like the mists of water being sprayed over the plants on the Rayya.

The effects aren't that bad. They're not great, but they aren't bad.

Yeah those sounds were cool. But that music from ME1 just added so much to the atmosphere of the level. Just hearing that music now brings me back.

Funny story, I know somebody in their mid-20s who, up until recently, thought that Buddhism originated in Greece. ^_^

Lmao you beter go read up on bladerunner , without those classic books .
You wouldn´t have so many stuff you have today .

Or do you rather be thrown to death with Harry Potter , Pokemon , the newest inventions of late >.<

Every new game borrows usually stuff from classic literature .
Reverting back to starship trooper (yes there is really a book out there not based on the movie , but vice versa)
Bladerunner
Neuromancer
etc .
