Neuromancer is the prelude of anything matrix related , ghost in a shell , johnny memmonic .
etc , it created the word Firewall and ICE .
Anyway if it wasn´t for that book , a lot of popular folklore wouldn´t even excist .

Um I don't know how this thread turned into a discussion on great 80s films but can we try to stay on topic?
Oh and as we all seem to be discussing ME1's techno/80s Sci-Fi inspirations a good example of a game with similar atmosphere to ME1 is Dues Ex (The original and the upcoming prequel)

The godamn music.

ME1 had the absolute best soundtrack i've heard in my entire life. It was just so scifi and epic. And it's funny how the most ME1 sounding track on the ME2 soundtrack, Suicide Mission, was the absolute best in there.

The exploration aswell, it was amazing.

Last but not at all least, the Presidium. Godammit Bioware, if you want ME3 to be successful you've got to make at least ONE large explorable hub.

I do not miss the inventory system and items. I do not miss the boring playthroughs on insanity, where it just increases hp and dmg of enemies. I do not miss the lack of DLC. I do not miss the boring planetary rover missions and questionable rover physics. I do not miss the terrible party and enemy AI.

This!
I always find it unsual at just how much of the music from ME1 was thrown away in ME2.
I absolutley love ME1's music and if they just added the music and more exploration ME2 would probabley be my favorite game of all time.

Ahh yes, elevators.

I DEFINITELY MISS ELEVATORS.

An immersive in-game loading time-sink with music, squadmate dialogue, and news stories with developments>loading screen you've seen 1000 times.

Completely amazing game. Mass Effect 2 is Aliens as opposed to Mass Effect 1 as Blade Runner.

Nope, Aliens is incredible. One of the best sci-fi films ever made.

But even so, Blade Runner still tops it.

So... there's a version of Blade Runner where Harrison Ford "free roams" in void lands with just two accessible locations with the always the same look and checks his inventory for 1/2 of the time? Ok, sorry for the really ugly joke, but I won't never understand why an awesome sci-fi saga needs so desperately to have old-school Rpg elements in it to be good.

Also, besides the vaguely similar setting, BR and Aliens have nothing in common... it's not exactly a fair comparison.

Don't take the comparison too literal.

But I see what you're saying.
