Time to amend the situation by making everyone laugh.

Why are we afraid of spiders with large asses? Shouldn't we be laughing at them?

= exponentially more spiders.

What's this, the fibbonacci sequence of spiders? All because of one stupid spider badunkadunk.

They should make a mode were they replace spiders with kittens... Kittens falling from the sky... giant kittens... and they will all make spider noises...

Personally I find some species of spider cute... when they're not on me...

And even then, only because I knew it was a video game and they weren't real. Had to tell my lizard brain, that. Didn't believe me.

I thought I did't have arachnofobia, I laughed at people who feared something on the screen, I found girlie screams about it silly, and..
..I think I got a small arachnofobia after playing that game, myself.

Anywho, here is the thread where you can post about your own Giant Spider experiences and reaction to seeing the T-Virus run amok in Thedas world of Arachinids.

I collect and study spiders so that moment was a real thrill for me. However, if the T-virus was ever in Thedas it would make for one epic game.

I have two stories about the monsterous spiders of DAII.

I'm not an arachnophobe, but the first time I saw that thing in the Deep Roads I admit to yelling 'HOLY (STRING OF EXPLETIVES), WHAT IS THAT?" As it proceeded to chew through my warrior Hawke, Varric and Anders with ease, Bethany retreated up the stairs away from it's fangs ... and then realised that the monster spider couldn't climb after her! Not only was it too big to get up, it blocked the way of all its spider spawn. Bethany just cast Firestorm into the pit and stood there shooting at it with her staff until it died. I imagine that she never let her big sister forget that battle.

The other memorable time I had a run in with one of them, I was in a cave - don't remember which one, given their startling resemblance to one another. There was a whole mob of other spiders with it, and between keeping track of Hawke carving her way through them, Anders healing and Merrill raining lightning I lost track of the boss. Imagine my surprise when the last Poisonous Spider lay down and the battle ended. I turned around to find the corpse of the monster spider, with my dog standing next to it wagging his tail.

I think Varric probably helped him out, but I have never been so grateful for his tanking. Wished there was an ox bone to give him.

The note on the table in Casa Del Hawke says it all really:

"Sorry. I was expecting treasure, not spiders. Get well soon. Love, Isabela."

/sigh, stoopid spiders

I'm terrified of spiders to the point that even fake plastic ones make me jump and sometimes scream. So the first time that monstrous spider dropped down on me it scared me worse than anything in a video game since the first 3 Silent Hill games. Thankfully it was daylight out when it happened because I might have never fallen asleep if it was late at night. That's thing is the stuff of nightmares.

I was fighting the little spiders, and it was out of camera view. I'm wondering why Aveline is near death. Then I turned around to heal her. That thing was one of the moments when I literally said, "Oh crap!" out loud. Well, that is the sanitized, edited version of what was said, anyway!

On my first playthrough I was a 2hander using reaver so, after making the little spiders that appear first into a pulpy mass of spider guts I turn around to the next little dot on my mini-radar thing and notice a spider the size of a school bus. I paused the game looked at my health shrugged, and charged in with an aside of "Well, this can't be as hard as that dragon in the bone-pit..." which is absolutely ludicrous because irl I HATE spiders.

My god, this game got old fast. It's like they took the omnipresent darkspawn of the first game and replaced them with spiders. I cannot count the times I've said "MORE?! Why is it always SPIDERS" and proceeded to curl into a ball across the room.

It started to get predictable. I'd be walking along, then I'd feel -- quiet. Peace. And I'd think to myself, "Well, spiders", take a few more steps and SUDDENLY SPIDERS EVERYWHERE OMIGAWD.
