It says that it does463 damage(for now at least), but I know that it's supposed ot be a 10 second DoT, I guess I'm asking if that's the damage it'll do over 10 seconds, or if that's PER second?

Okaym ty Atmos. Wit htat knowledge, is it wort it? Upgrated it'll bup it up to 600+, but is only 200% on staggared enemies
And it "Effects" them, but it doesn't stop anyone dead in their tracks anymore, boss or otherwise

Horror is better, but its still pretty powerful. Especially against stagger, which double its already high damage. Is it worth it, depending on the mage, IMO yes. It didn't stop bosses dead in their tracks in Origins either, but the wallop it packed still made it worth it. Same here IMO. Plus its still a good way to deal with pesky mages.

It does stop bosses, if you stagger them there's a 100% paralyze chance.

True. 100% Paralyze and 200% damage

Yep yep, its quite a few points to get, but you're picking up barrier and elemental weapons along the way.

I have Merril using this spell a lot, and it's amusing to see her freeze an Assassin in mid-air after coming out of Stealth to try to Backstab me.

Here's a nice tactic to use on your Hawke (if you let the AI play him/her) or your companion mages.

1: Enemy: STAGGERED -> Use current condition for next tactic
2: Enemy: Elite rank or higher -> Use Crushing Prison
3: Enemy: Normal rank or lower -> Use Crushing Prison

If you put this on a mage, the AI will never "waste" a Crushing Prison again, if the enemy is a difficult enemy it'll only use it on it if it's STAGGERED so it'll still paralyze.

But it'll still use it on regular enemies even if they are not STAGGERED, although at a lower priority.

Will Stagger and Paralyze stack? Or will Paralyze get rid of Stagger?

All cross class combos remove the triggering effect, STAGGER, DISORIENT or BRITTLE.

However the massive damage (and in some cases other effects) they do make it more than worth it.

So to answer your question directly, STAGGER will be removed, but the victim will be paralyzed as well as take 200% damage.

Will the boss still get hit with the DoT or once they leave the energy field without stagger it goes to waste?

I'm curious as to how those tactics are going to cast Crushing Prison on the staggered elite target when the cooldown is still running from the normal, worthless target you just cast it on.

I agree suicidal, it would just simply skip the staggered move on to the next and cast it on a normal.
I'm quite fond of my tactic set up for merril atm (she does most of my controlling except paralysis glyph).
Enemy: Target of Hawke -> Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Can't Attack -> Jump to tactic 13
Enemy: Target of Hawke -> Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Staggered -> Crushing Prison
Enemy: Elite rank or higher -> Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Nearest Rogue -> Petrify
Enemy: Elite Rank or higher -> Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Target of Hawke -> Petrify
Enemy: Elite rank or Higher -> Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Target of Hawke -> Horror

It then goes on to chain lightnings and tempests and hexs etc. Basically its in the order of crushing prisons staggered hawkes target, petrify any damn rogue, petrify hawkes target, horror hawkes target. The top part stops her from just chain casting them all at once on one target if they are already affected by one she will just skip to damaging them cause i was sick of seeing something horrored, paralysed and petrified at the same time

I lead with hex on any elite+ every cooldown. same with haste. Most stagger sets I use keep rank on the spell, forcing me to make sure i hit stagger on the target i want ccc'd. its a little more of a controlled burst that way, so im not wasting cooldowns. I use s/s for its control of stagger rather the random do it all method. allows for better control of rogues.
