I love the Fenris rivalry romance for fHawke - that first scene was totally hot. I want an "unhealthy relationship" achievement. Hehehe.

In my last playthrough I went Merill and it was OK. I was expecting a little more emotion after wiping out her entire clan to the last man, woman, and child though so that was a letdown.

This playthough I'm just going to be shot down when I try Aveline [non-romanceable].

Isabella and the other companions will have to wait until after the various friendship / rivalry / etc. bugs are squashed.

Is there actually a difference in the scenes between rivalry/friendship romances? I'm finding it very hard to imagine a Merrill rivalry scene.

For now I adore Merrill.
Her innocence banter with dirty Isabella makes me giggle a bit.

I didn't know they have rivalry romance option.
I'm just at the beginning of year 4.
Hope it wasn't too late

I haven't romanced anyone, but I enjoyed my bromances with Anders and Fenris. We were the Miserable Bastards Club

Fenris: Hey, mage. Eff you!
Anders: Oh yeah? Well eff you too, elf!
Hawke: And eff you both! Booze?
Fenris and Anders: Yes please

I think one of the best banter moments in the game was after breaking off a romance. I Rivalmanced Fenris up to Act 2 and broke it off for Anders (Fenris came to see Hawke first, they progressed the romance then when Anders visited I progressed it with him saying there wasn't anything with Fenris). In some banter Anders told Fenris he was a fool for leaving Hawke, I thought, hey cool they acknowledge romances in the banter. Then when we were tooling around Sundermount Fenris told Anders he'd kill him if Anders hurt Hawke. Which in and of itself was a nice touch but what made ending it even better was that later Fenris mentioned to Isabella that he'd be by again that night to see her. So I thought it was a very nice detail that Fenris still cared, but moved on. So after that, I'd advocate dual romances early on and dropping one part way through, though I haven't tried any other combinations to see if they have similar outcomes.

I haven't been especially impressed with any of the romances.

There are some characters I like, but it's all for reasons other than the romances, which I felt were pretty meh overall.

But I haven't experienced 'em all, of course. Doubt I will, either.
