Inspired by Sabresandiego's excellent Vanguard guide and Arelex's 3 minute dragon run, I decided to see just how fast you could kill the deep roads dragon on Nightmare.
I'm actually playing Fenris as a Vanguard and using my FemHawke Mage as npc with full tactics. This is a good way to get your Mage run through for those that are dreading it.
Too lazy to provide a full guide. I showed my attributes, weapons, tactics and abilities for all characters at the end of the video. No hacks or maker's sigh bugged ability points.

Nice this was useful to me, I especially appreciate how you flipped through the tactics of your companions and your Hawke.

Not my favorite either. He stayed in his home my entire first game. By the time I let him out at the end of the game, he was so pissed that he kept killing me with his "friendly fire".
Still, you have to admit his personal tree is pretty sweet. He has some of the best abilities from Reaver, Berserker AND the Templar trees. What's more, by using him as your two handed warrior, you free up an extra player character Mage. With Anders, this can give you TWO improved hastes that they can keep up for the first 40 seconds of combat, and 2/3's of the time after that (if the fights not already over). You will also gain access to the Makers Hammer and Hemorrage AOE cross class combos to exploit your Staggers.
ps- I am level 11 in the video, but pretty close to 12. Has anyone hit level 12 before encountering the deep roads dragon, and if so, how?

Ive gotten quite proficient with Avelines shield bash + pommel to force a more efficient targeted use of stagger spells. Aveline herself is doing 1200 + on disoriented targets. with 2 mages, its just preference really. have i mentioned I hate fenris?ScroguBlitzen wrote...

try going back through the wounded coast after your last quest there for more xp. trap disarms make up quite a bit of act 1 xp.

Trap xp. That's what I didn't get enough of. Have two notes for next game. Load up on runes of fortune quickly, and use a rogue as my controlled character while doing missions for the trap xp.
How do you feel about Fenris?

I also don't like Fenris, but hate Anders. I love his (Fenris') skill tree, though. By using Hawke as the ultimate healer (with Fortitude and Vitality) and speccing Varric as trap master, it enables a style of play that I really love.
