Im in the middle of act 3, imported my DAO playthrough with Awakenings and all DLC's. In act 1 i decided to take Bethany and Anders with me in the deep roads. Bethany became a Warden.
At the end of act 2, during the battle against the Qunary i have meet Bethany with the other wardens. She was very unhappy with her destiny. She missed his brother.
In act 3 you get the Quest to rescue Nathaniel Hawke in the deep road. Again i meet Bethany and had a little conversation with her. She said, that she missed all of us and that you would go mad when she thougth too much about us.
Now im not sure if this was a good decision to bring Bethany to the wardens.

Im thinking about to start a separate playthrough and leave her in Kirkwall when i have to go with the expedition. What do you think about?

Sorry for my english, im italian.

Well it's my opinion that she better off in the Circle then the Wardens. Bethany just wants to be normal but being a Grey Warden is as far from normal as one can get. Though she seems to accept being a Grey Warden by then end to me at least she still seems sad cause its not what she wants.

It never hurts to experience the game in different ways. I generally make her a Warden, from Origins we can see that mages are far better off in the Grey Wardens than the Circle.

Generally, I think Bethany is better going to the Circle and (mild spoiler) Carver is better going to the Wardens. I think they're both generally happier in those routes than the other options... particularly one other option.

Seeing how the game ends i think she is better with the Wardens. Depending on your final decision i guess anyhow. :P

Doesn't she leave with you after the game. So she's an apostate again?

If we were dealing with any other Circle than the one in Kirkwall, I'd probably have to say she'd be better off and happier there, despite my own personal dislike for the Circles and blatant Warden fanboyness.

But when the options are "travel around, grow as a mage, be forever safe from Templars" or "live in a gulag overseen by a going-insane woman surrounded by blood magic and corruption", I'm making Beth a Warden all day every day.

In my playthroughs so far, I'd done the opposite. :P

Though, that's simply because I didn't know any of that would happen in my first playthrough so Carver ended up in the Templars, and in my current one I thought Bethany'd be better off as a Warden.

She accepts her destiny later on, she even says that she used to blame you but she is now happy. In another playthrough leave her behind sure, there's no point playing the same way over and over

Well I'm honestly not sure Bethany would be more safe as a Grey Warden then as Circle. Yes I know the Grey Wardens try to stay neutral but that can't always happen and something as big as whats going on right now with the templars, mages, and chantry might make it impossible for the Grey Wardens to remain completely neutral. Like how Alistair and Our Wardens weren't able to remain neutral parties after Ostagar. You have to figure that Wardens come from all walks of life soldiers, templars, mages, ect so complete neutrality might be impossible in something so world changing.

Bethany is better of in the circle, imo. She gets to see how the circle works, notices how much better being an apostate was and leaves with you in the end, no matter what you do... if you dont side with the templars and obey Meredith order to kill her. But what kind of person would do that to Bethany? Posted Image

Wait, you actually can kill her? I was under the impression that you had to refuse as one of the catalysts for forcing the Meredith boss battle on you when siding with the Templars.

I thought I read somewhere in this forum about a guy who actually killed her when Meredith orders you to do it. Never tried it. Can't kill my poor sister.

Well I wasn't trying to say that Bethany would be safer in general as a Grey Warden over Circle. Just that something as big and world changing as whats going on the Grey Wardens coveted neutrality might not be able to stand like it wasn't able to stand for Alistair and our Warden after Ostagar, they couldn't remain neutral.

I made Bethany a Grey Warden and I'm at the start of act 3 and just done the Nathaniel quest and so far Bethany seems really sad so I'm wondering if I should have left her to join the circle.

she forgive you. but i got the sense she is still unhappy with you. that why i always send her to the circle. sides i wouldn't send my real sister to the wardens.

She is sad at the start of act 3 either way, but the Circle really is better for her (if you help the mages at the end).

Her codex entry says it is something about her always wondering if the Circle wouldn't have been better for her than running In the final dialogs she talks about how she never realized how free she was before until she was locked in the Circle, and she has now found purpose for her life in helping to free fellow mages.

Then you tear things down and walk away with her. Really is the happiest possible ending for her in my opinion.

I've picked the Wardens for my first playthrough. When **** hit the fans with the rebellion stuff, I am not sure if being a Circle mage in there would be good at all. I'd take the neutrality any day.
And as a GW, there's a slight chance for mah Warden meeting her. Sorta.:wizard:

yes, that's what i thought after rescuing nathaniel. Maybe the endgame sequence give some information if bethany could find some peace.

She's better off with the Wardens as far as I'm concerned. If she's a Warden than she's free forever from the Chantry she doesn't have to be afraid of being made tranquel. If she was in the circle and fleed with you than she'd be back where she was at the begining of the game running scared only now all she has is one brother/sister.

She may not be as happy to start with in the Wardens but she's better off being there. When the war starts she'll be immune to the blowback.
