Just curious... did you turn her over for essentially be the cause of the Qunari problem, or did you defend her and fight on?
I did both just to see what would happen...

On my rogue I duelled the Arishok. I let her keep artifact on my mage. So far anyway. I'll probably try to turn her in on my warrior.

In my first game she ran aaway with the book (I hadn't gotten her friendship high enough to keep her) and it was a free for all when I got to the Arishok. I thought that was completely in character and immensely amusing. My LadyHawke was...less than amused...
My second game, she returned and I dueled one on one with the Arishok to defend her. It was kind of funny that she wanted to duel but he turned her down flatly.
Frankly I was expecting another free for all.
Third game, I was romancing her, so it was duel time again.
Fourth game, I haven't reached that point yet. I may turn her over this time to be different (and then probably reload and duel the Arishok cause i'm too chickensh*t to kill her).
