Why does it seem that most or all armor that I can purchase has a Restriction: Hawke?  Is it not possible to change my party companions armor?

There is a potion that debilitates enemies when used on my weapon.  I believe it says Duration:30m.  I assume this means 30 minutes (real time).  How do I tell if the poison is still in effect on my weapon?

You cannot change your companion's armor so all the armor you find has Hawke as a restriction.
Hawke's companions' armor gets better as they level up, and you can buy/find upgrades for the armor throughout the game in different. You should probably check the dragon age 2 wiki for exact locations.
