Dragon Age took seven years to make and that Dragon age 2 just took two years to make. I mean cmon.... do you want to wait seven years to buy and play dragon age 2?

Duke Nukem: Forever.

And to think people called it vaporware. B)

Thats a case of too long that its not even on my radar anymore.  10 years ago I was excited... now I couldn't care less.

You would think two years would be enough when you already have a winning formula. I just hope Mass Effect 3 doesn't suffer the same fate as DA2.

Like some one pointed out if they had stuck with the origins system it would have been a great game maybe some improvements here and there. Instead they decided to revamp the game over and the result is a less then bioware quality product.

Seconded.

It's unfortunate that real word economics doesn't mind trampling on quality, but I as a gamer am very patient.

Seconded too.

ME3 will be my Bioware litmus test, I'll know then if Bioware's products are still worth keeping updated about or not.

If they developed the game for 6 more months it would have been a 9+ game.

6 more months is not a lot to ask for.

It wasn't an issue of time, it was priorities. They could have put more into the story in the game instead of trying to be 'innovative' to 'save the RPG' and it would have been fine. This wasn't just bad because they rushed things, they decided to give the finger to their fan base so they could chase their white wale.

I am furious with Valve for taking so long with half Life Episode 3(or is it Half Life 3 now?)

But I know when It comes out it'll be amazing. So despite how annoying it may be I'd much prefer to wait. It's different with HL3 though since they have released nothing but 1 very early concept art. Nothing else, that's what annoys me.

Also, I used to think DA2 only needed 6 months but It needed at least a year, possibly 2.

definitely. I waited seven years for a sequel to The Longest Journey and despite some flaws Dreamfall was an excellent game. the way things are going it's likely to be another seven since Dreamfalls release until the third game, but so long as it's high quality I'd rather wait than have a half-arsed attempt now
besides, their original plan was to support Origins with two years of content, at the end of which the sequel would be close to ready for release. due to grEAd the plans were rushed significantly, cheating us out of more Origins content as well as DA2 content

Yep.

I'm going to spare you all the list of games that took years that I loved, and games that were quick and failed...

But the evidence is stacked massively in longer development = better game's favour.

I don't mind waiting for a good game to be released. It's not like there's only one developer out there. There's always something to play and a lot of the time, I've got a couple games going at the same time.

Maybe if I played through them as fast as I could I'd be sitting around waiting for something new to come out, but I don't mind going back and playing some old ones again, either.

I think some people need to understand the difference between 'waiting for' and the actual production times. Knowing that a game (sequel?) is coming out, but not for years... until a 30-year-old you turns forty or something, is rather unappealing. Turning 38/39 and having the announcement it will be coming out by the time you turn 40 is better since your not obsessing over it until it is released, and can give the impression of recaptured nostalgia. That long wait only hypes the game up so that when it finally is released almost everyone hates it except those out of loop.
