During the trip to Bart's old house to investigate the ghosts, Varric's runes disappear after defeating the Golem.
This is repeatable with different outcomes which all cost Varric his runes. A couple of times the runes simply disappeared and once the entire armor addition disappeared. I ended up just replacing the rumes as this happened every time I tried it.
??? Anyone else notice this?
