The bone pit quests were rather disappointing when I realised no profit would come from it, and no management of the mine either. I had been hoping to make a few decisions on things like hiring guards, or where the miners would focus their mining (even something as simple as mine in shaft 1, shaft 2, or shaft 3 would have been something to do).
Still, at that stage of the game 15 gold isn't much unless you've been spending a lot on buying gear, runes, potions, etc. I mostly just use it for rp purposes, so each and every one of my Hawkes harbours a grudge against that smith. That's why he's not there in Act 3, Hawke's revenge scheme worked between Act 2 and 3.
Pick Up Pickaxes. Seriously?

Well being an explorer, defender from an invasion, sex god, rebell leader/rebellion crusher AND a good businessman would be a little much. So the Bone Pit disaster adds a character flaw to Hawke, nice thing.

You know, I hadn't even noticed there was a pick axe quest. I've just killed spiders and dragons and that's pretty much it!

It would've been nice if we actually made a gold profit at the beginning of Acts 2 and 3 based on if we did all the quests for it and such.
