On the second, all she did was complain that I was friends with elves. Bigot.

All she says is that your elven friends are really strange.  Which they are!

Merril's not strange, you take that back.

We could call it worldly innocent. That sounds nicer than strange Image IPB

She's insinuating that my elven friends are going to make me odd in society! I've known my mother for twenty-something years!! I'm familiar with that tone of disapproval!!! Mother hates it when I use the snarky dialogue options!!!!

as well as her eldest being indecisive and snarky and telling her not to go out and have fun because MOM SHOULD MAKE ME SANDWICHES BECAUSE SANDAL NEVER WASHES HIS HANDS...

Lol, is that truly an option and where can I find a youtube record of it? :o

Mother just said we were special. *sniffles*

Edit: To the guy who posted above me,

The sandwich made by your mother is, indeed, in the game. I have not found yet youtube footage of it and cannot take videos in fraps. However, there is an option to demand a sandwich from your mother. There is also an animation of Hawke standing there and taking a big old bite of the sandwich. Hawke can either finish the sandwich and thank mom or toss it to the dog and tell her it is rubbish. They did not finish the animation of the dog eating the sandwich though, so that is not actually in the game, but you can hear the sound of the dog eating the sandwich.

If you eat the sandwich you get 3 attribute points to spend as you want in the game. You can get an unlimited number of sandwiches but it is hard to do because it triggers so rarely.

This does not actually exist in the game. It never will. I am lying to you about all this right now through my teeth. Please do not believe me. Like what happens with Sandal, the conversation with your mom has a 1/100 chance of triggering when you talk to her. I am totally not lying to you about this, because I never ever lie, because lying is for wussies.

I am lying about all this because I am a horrible person. Please do not believe me, but you should probably tell everyone about the secret sandwich level, just in case.

Note: It either triggers as a "Ye Olde PBJ Sandwiche" or a "Ye Olde Slattern-Cheese Sammich". If you have actually gotten this conversation to trigger, you will offer Anders a sandwich after sleeping with him, and he will eat it and tell you it is the best sandwich he has ever eaten, ever. You also get special dialogue when mom kicks it, and you lament how you will no longer have sandwiches that have been specially made with wuv as an ingredient.

Out of curiosity, what are the different affects from the various outcomes? What's different between her as a slave and a servant, for example?

I'm surprised, when she acknowledged Hawke's romance with Merrill, she never called her by name (she only refers to her as "that elf"). I'd have thought she'd have met Merrill over the past few years she lived in Kirkwall.

I heard that she learns how to read and write if you give her money, and it's mentioned in a letter she sends to you. I think the only difference between being a servant and a slave could be in the initial dialogue you have with her, since Leandra always assumes she's a slave.

So she doesn't get killed at the nearest turn?

That's a relief. I've only offered her a job because I thought she would be hopeless out there, Kreia's mantra about charity flashing right before me and BioWare being evil with player punching outcomes.

Or I'm just a cheapass, 10 gold is 10 gold.
