King Alistair or Warden Alistair?

Which do you prefer?  I have save games of DAO with both.  I thought King Alistair would be the best for Fereldan.  I thought he would be better than Anora.  But when I met both King Alistair and Warden Alistair...I don't know...I just thought Warden Alistair was more "right".  It seemed like Warden Alistair leading the battle suited him better than diplomatic appearances.

What are your thoughts?

King Alistair. I don't like where the Wardens are heading in terms of management.

I just started my DA2 game with Warden Alistair, and he hasn't yet made his appearance. But going by the Origins epilogues, Awakening, and my first 2 DA2 runs, I like King Alistair. I think a hardened Al made for a better ruler than Anora, who seemed more self-centered and less interested in the will of the people. I think Al would've preferred to be a warden, unless he's hardened. Then he claims to want the throne if you pick certain dialogue options. So King Alistair for me, unless his appearance as a warden is truly mind-blowing in DA2.

I let Anora execute him.

King Alistair. The Wardens are going down the drain with tossers like Stroud being given anything that resembles responsibility.

How do you get him to stay as a Grey Warden again? I never did, always put him on the throne except as a Dwarf Noble Warden I had him marry Anora and let Loghain kill the Archdemon.

I would imagine support Anora and execute Loghain, or harden Alistair, spare Loghain and support Anora or run off with Alistair (female Warden).

What wrong with Stroud exactly? He was just travelling through Kirkwall when the Qunairy invaded.

But then thats the only scene I have seen him in.

He's a snooty ass who leaves the people of Kirkwall to their fate and is incredibly obnoxious when it comes to making your sibling a Grey Warden if you go down that route.

Execute Loghain, and have Anora rule alone.  Do not marry Anora, and do not have Alistair marry Anora.  He will then stay with the Grey Wardens.

Alistair appears instead of Stroud, if Alistair is a Grey Warden.  He does the same thing.  The Grey Wardens have another purpose in Kirkwall.  As part of the Grey Warden code, they aren't supposed to get involved in politics or militia anyway.

Though now that I think about it, Warden Commander was pretty deep in the politics of Amaranthine.  Maybe I should replay Awakenings.

I find it to be far smarter decisions to leave Kirkwall in order to warn the other cities in case Kirkwall falls.

What the Wardens are doing is more important than what Kirkwall is happening and the Wardens don't want to ****** off the Qunari and lose potential allies by fighting them. You forget that Alistair also says the same thing if he's a Warden. Does that make Alistair an ass since he abandons Kirkwall? Also, what Stroud says is true since being a Warden, no matter how good it may seem, is basically a death sentence and your sibling resents you for making them a Warden. Don't be so judmental. WARDENS FTW!!!!!

Gone over this in another topic, suffice to say you're saying it's better to lose potential allies in Kirkwall rather than the Qunari.. who, being Qunari are likely to say "No." anyway?

Alistair at least seems to be acting under orders and uncomfortable with it. Stroud on the other hand shows no reservations whatsoever.

30 year death sentence vs. imminent death or becoming a ghoul?
This is even debatable how?

The "harden Alistair, spare Loghain, support Anora" route leads to Drunkistair, IIRC, if not outright forcing his execution.

Does it? Hm, so much for subtlety I suppose.

Sparing Loghain will always lead to drunk Alistair or execution. Alistair will not stay with the Warden if Loghain is spared, whether hardened or not.

I liked both King & Warden Alistair, although Warden Alistair made me miss him from Origins a lot more.

That's not true. I hardened Alistair and spared Loghain, and still convinced Alistair to take the throne and marry Anora. He left my party, yes, but he stayed in Ferelden and still became king.
