I was trying to pull the same thing is I did in the last game and have my cake and eat it too but I'm not sure if there are glitches that won't allow you to pull it off in this one. My question: Is there only one romance scene w/ Isabela (Act 3)? If that is the only romance scene I might switch up and see what Merrill is about. Isabela stays @ the hanged man & trys to sleep w/ the elf assassin from the Origins. Merrill moves in and cleans her self up since she is living in Hightown now. Besides, Isabela having a big butt & a smile does she offer ther same benefits. In Dragon Origins my character did not go a night w/out it. My guy in Dragon Age has only gotten in once and its already act 3. Let me know b/c I like Isabela but Merrill has switched the game up & wants to lay up in the mansion? Thanks
Merril or Isabela?

There is only one romance scene in Act 3 for all LI. Merril is kinda better... For my next playthrough for sure.
If you want a ****, you can got to brothel. Their personnel are not half as ugly as Isabella.

There is a romance scene in Act 2 with Isabela if you've been flirty and friendly. You can basically have a one night stand if you tell her you're not bringing feelings into it. Telling her why not continues the romance. Telling her it was just fun, supposedly lets you romance others as well.

Do both at the same time.

@ Lord Gremlin, I feel yo but 2 sovereigns comes in handy. I think our Uncle was lying about spending all that money but he's up in that spot like everyday.
@ Angelonedge, It was Act 2 then were the romance scene had taken place. It was up a half way before the war. I guess there aren't many romance scenes b/c Varric is telling the story...

If you're trying to "have your cake and eat it too," stick with Isabela. Leave poor Merrill alone.

Can you get Isabella to move in? I don't know if I want her to change that outfit though. She could lose the bandana.

I have to admit. I found Merrill annoying until she wanted to give Hawke some love & then when she got hair done & put on the all white cat suit,,,I had to give her some props. When I had to slaugher her entire village I was going to put her on the backburner if she wasn't so powerful.

You only get one romance scene with any character.
And then they have a change of outfits. Regardless of who you sleep with or how it ends there's a glitch that says you run off with Isabela in the end. This is true even if you send her packing with the Arishok.
EDIT:
The glitch only happens if you slept with Isabela. Otherwise the epilogue works well enough.

Merrill is waaaaaaay to innocent for me to be comfortable with that. And i actually do like Isabella, she's a neat character.

I just role play my character and see who's interested, to be honest.
Isabella pretty much attempts to have a one-night stand no matter who I play (unless I go out of my way to be cruel to her), which could lead to a long termed, though hedonistic, relationship. My rogue is the type of gal to go along with her and Zevran, but my knight won't have it. Yep, she says she's falling for me and five minutes later she's jumping at the chance to have sex with an assassin. "Oh, yeah! Well, you can come, too!" Whatever.
As for Merril, she's sweet, but I hate the fact that I have to win her over by being a COMPLETE IDIOT and go along with all her numb-skull ideas. I mean, I spend 3/4 of the game getting jumped by demons, but I still have to be supportive of her making a deal with one? In order to stay in character I've been trying to convince her to return to her people and give the whole mirror thing up.
And the epilogue romance bug gets on my nerves. Grrr.

In Act II I had a sex scene with both Merrill and Isabela in the same playthrough in two, one after another, visits to Hawke's estate.
I prefer Isabela way more, she is more interesting, and seductive. Merrill is naive, and too innocent.

The difference is that she knows what she's doing. But then, that's what the rivalry path bonus emphasizes: she's used to having nobody believe in her.

Oh, yeah, I forgot my preference: Anders. Though I REALLY wish Varric was available. *sigh*

Yeah, Varric mentioned that "everyone eventually left" (then he had two voices at the same time saying) "except for that d***** Merrill/Isabela"

I'm sure someone will eventually come up with a "multiple romance mod" letting you continue each romance all the way in one playthrough...

@ MKDAWUSS -- Wow, gamers using that mod would be, like, very stereotypical and, um, incredibly sad.
