@ TheBlackBaron -- Thanks, but I role-play my characters to see what happens, I don't artificially make choices to achieve a specific outcome that someone tells me is out there. If I achieve a high rival score with Merril during one of my adventures, it'll be because the option was opened by the way I'm playing.

I think what he was trying to say was that you can romance her without going along with her "numbskull ideas" so that you don't have to choose the "stupid" answers if you don't want to.

If there is I have not found it.  Only Fenris and Merril will move in with you as far as I have found.

@Abispa, Merrill is trying to recreate an ancient piece of technology that's two thousand years old. Besides using blood magic (which is also done by some Grey Warden mages), she's willing to talk to the demon Audacity and have Hawke there "just in case." The demon is the only entity that would know what happened during the time of Arlathan, so she thinks it's a calculated risk. All she wants to do is help her people, despite the fact that they now hate and despise her. Given what the Keeper told everyone (that lead to P'ol's death), there's no future for Merrill with her clan.

Merrill should have accompanied the Warden. Then she would have encountered the arcane warrior trapped in the bottle, and learned more than just the arcane warrior specialisation. She followed the wrong hero.
