Is anyone else 90% certain you were originally supposed to be able to save Leandra?

I'm sure that this could be modded for a different out come if BioWare finds a way to let us use the toolset for DA2 (hint hint)

I know why they did it, I still don't agree with it though. Taking away choices, even minor ones that don't make any real difference limits my replayability. The game has been out only a month and already feels played out. I won't be so interested in the DLC I know they're going to want to sell later like I was with ME and DAO. What can they add, it's all set in stone already.

Well I have a feeling it would be a bad mod. Simply because it is hard. They could probably delete the whole quest and keep Leandra standing in your house doing nothing but giving the standard answers of Act 2. But I would rather see more family topics in Act2 and 3. Maybe even visit Carver or Bethany in the Gallows or something. I am just not happy how the only purpose of the family is to die or be taken away. It's just like saying the character is an orphan or whatever.

I agree. I didn't feel any different with Hawke than I did with my Cousland, with the exception of having my family killed off more slowly. The deaths could have had far more depth or drama to them, but as with many things, the execution wasn't satisfying. I was really hoping to bond with my sibling (or be torn further apart) by Leandra's death. I was hoping that the "you're all we have left" moment with Gamlen would actually lead into developing a relationship with all that was truly left--but no.

The family dynamic could have been an interesting direction but the execution of it fell so much further below the standards that I felt the developers were capable of. It was like a tease...

I saw Carver again when the Qunari struck and thought brother and sister might embrace, or argue, or something because Hawke couldn't save Leandra. That "I know" and then departure felt so empty.

Then Gamlen telling Hawke that they were all that each other had, and then... nothing. My Hawke was lucky that Carver was with the Wardens. To those who did lose their sibling in the Deep Roads and really had no one left, Gamlen and later Charade were all that was left. Let Hawke pull him into the estate in a "family has to stick together" kind of moment, or offer him some coin, or something.

Off-topic, yes, but that would have been amazing.
