So I figured being the clever person I am that I could get to 25 willpower on my mage, drop in a lower level item with Rune of Valiance and get a moderate + to my stats in order to wear another item with a better +attribute bonus in order to wear the higher end mage gear.

Here is how this happened exactly:
Finished high dragon fight, went to estate
Bought 2 Runes of Valiance
I had Robe of the Nortorius Pirate and Gloves of June bought from Dalish Shop which had a rune slot and 5 stars at lvl20.
Checked attributes, 25 willpower as planned.
I was wearing just the Robe of the Pirate, added Rune @ +4 attributes giving me 29 willpower
Checked attributes, 29 will power
Next, I put the rune in the 27 willpower/magic requirement Gloves of June @ +6 attributes.
Checked attributes, no change.
Removed Robe to see if this was blocking the higher bonus from the gloves.
Checked Attributes, no change. umm
Removed Gloves to see if I could do it another way,
Checked Attributes, 23 willpower

To test that it was infact removing permanent stats, I did it again in the exact same pattern
Checked attributes, 6 strength, 6 dexterity, 21 willpower

I have since reverted to a previous save and have replanned out the remainder of my build so I do not encounter this bug again.

This on ps3.  Confirm on 360/pc should be the next step.

Further Tests showed:
This issue only occurs when you have 2 different equipment slots being used in transition with 2 different attribute bonuses. The negitive I recieved in the Initial event was because of the difference of 2 attritube points between the 2 items I was altering on and off.

When used on the same item slot, say gloves. You can jump from one equipable item with a lower RoV bonus (example +4) to a previously unequipable item with a higher bonus(example +6) as long as they are in the same armor/shield slot with out incuring a penelty to your stats.

If you do this bug in reverse you can get all those stats back. Not a fix but it will make due in the mean time. There is another thread about this that has exactly the opposite tone and mood because the user found it gaining stats :)

Equip the lower stat one, then equip the higher stat one. Now, remove the higher one first and then the lower one. Rinse and repeat until your stats are back to normal.

My guess is the reason you have -6 is because you've done this twice. It should be taking the difference between your 2 rune of valiance mods.

I'm going to say no, you won't die. You may end up getting in to the negatives and having some very unexpected side-effects occur though.
