Hello, I tried to google similar problems but it didn't seem to get me far so, short: Just as the title says.
Long: I've played through the game twice now, and I'm meddling around with a third play through but for some reason, the computer I a using shuts down mid-play. It never happening in the first 2 play through but has just started happening and is quite frankly, quite annoying.
I've done a few different things to stress the system between whatever test I could find and also run a multitude of other games and programs at the same time for a few hours to see if it might have been overheating or what not, but it only shuts down for DA2. The time it takes to shut down varies. Hoping someone could help me, I'm not exactly the most tech savvy but I will try and understand anything.

Go into Systems, Advance System Settings Startup and Recovery. Under system failure uncheck automatic restart..See if it shuts down after that.
Other things to do is create a new user profile and test play under that profile.

Still shuts down. Now it's only happening after like 10 minutes of play.

You're having some system issues, most likely a conflicted or a corrupt driver. If it's the video driver, for example, shutting off the auto-recovery might not help.
I've found the people at this forum:

... are very helpful. You can download a compiler for the Windows minidump files and upload a report, and they'll analyze it.
Before doing that, you can try doing a clean uninstall/reinstall of your video drivers... there's a link below in my signature.

M'k, thank you. I just don't get why it /only/ does it when playing DA2 and nothing else.

Note that it might be an overheating issue. Sometimes certain games can put a lot more stress on your graphics card or CPU than they really should, which can lead to the system restarting itself to prevent hardware failure.

Sounds like your power supply is going bad to me.
Have you tried playing any games other than DA2? If its happening when you're playing games in general - that's a sign that its being triggered by your graphics card being heavily utilized. For example if your power supply is starting to pump out less wattage (which happens as they get older - or if they just happen to be going bad for whatever reason) than your card needs under a heavy load then all of a sudden your system doesn't have enough power to keep running - hence the shutdown.
Either that or something's up with your graphics card.
I've had this exact thing happen to me though, and getting a new power supply fixed it.

blueratx, when you say your PC is 'shutting down', do you mean it's powering down completely (fans stop spinning, LEDs turn off etc.)?
If so, there's an excellent chance your power supply is giving out.
