I just get the same old World of Warcraft spam as always.
Well, I'll have to take that back now.
Got a "Re:BestCasino&Now" from "New York", so I'll have to agree with that there's something fishy going on.

I have that exact same spam email. I can always block the sender but It's still annoying when i expect a company to keep my details secure.

Got a spam with that same title. Can't remember the sender.
This e-mail address is not exclusive to my EA Account and is not the first spam I've received on it. But this certainly sounds like someone got access to an EA Account list somewhere.

Thank you for letting us know it's being looked into Chris.Chris Priestly wrote...
Thanks for letting us know of this. I have forwarded the information up the chain and investigation is underway.
Obviously if email addresses have somehow been leaked it's not going to help people that already have this issue - but hopefully it could at least stop this from happening to people not currently effected.

Just checking in to say I've also gotten the "Re:BestCasino&Now" email from "New York".
Same here though it says "Europe" instead of New York (funny, thats where I am from)...

www.securityweek.com/massive-breach-epsilon-compromises-customer-lists-major-brands might be this, but EA isn't on the list so far.

I was wondering about the same thing, but it seems that EA do their own marketing spamming so I'm not sure what's the connection. If they are passing our details on to other companies like this, this is exactly the sort of reason the practice should stop.BTCentral wrote...

If you read the PDF I linked it seems they deal with a lot of EA's emails - distribution of EA's newsletters, transactional emails, registration emails etc. - a snippet:
DREAMmail’s extensive dynamic personalisation capabilities allow content to be delivered in multiple languages, and customised based on a subscriber’s preferences or location.
For example, subscribers to EA’s Godfather Newsletter sign up for one of four families and receive regular newsletters targeted to that family. EA then customises content based on the family of choice and creates buzz for products that have not yet been released.
Many large corporations use third parties for newsletter etc. distribution as it's much easier for them to let someone else deal with the hassle of email distribution issues than to deal with it in-house.
