Deleted and re-downloaded the content. Now getting:
The following downloadable content is corrupt and cannot be used. Please re-download and try again.

Prince still seems to be there though.

I had the same (I think). But I just selected "Download again" the first time and then I had the addon twice in my list when browsing my harddrive and one had a "!" icon and was corrupted.
I deleted both and downloaded it again and its working now - but still shows Version 1.0 and the same release date as the old one in DA2.

Have you tried to delete it and download it again?

If the xbox is stating that the content is corrupt then some of the code is not registering as complete or correct against its table of contents, the most likely reason for this would be packet loss while downloading. If you re-download the content and delete the corrupted data it should fix the issue. If you are still getting corrupted content you will need to troubleshoot your internet connection (if you are using a wireless connection you could try moving the xbox closer to the router or switching to a wired connection for instance),

Figured it out - really silly.

I keep a USB stick with backup copies of saves and DLC of whatever game I'm playing, and the USB stick had the old DLC. As I was selecting the harddisk I didn't think that the USB copy mattered. Obviously it could see the two didn't match.

This makes sense as the 360 is tring to resolve an issue of two pieces of the content being stored in seperate locations, Microsoft doesn't seem to have a uniqe message for this implimented. The game is recognising the correct one because it only looks in one place for any content
