That would be an excellent point if we knew that Relays can repair, though its certainly not outside of the realm of possibility. Damned clever idea actually. As of this point though its pure speculation.
I'd say we do know, and I quote from the Secondary Codex Entry - Arrival: The Reaper's Secrets, Sub-Entry: The Alpha Relay.
"Discovering the age of a mass relay is not an easy task. Relays can shield themselves to preserve their integrity down to the quantum level so taking a sample for analysis proves nigh impossible. Relays also maintain self-cleaning cycles, wiping away potential evidence, though damage or dormancy can cause this cycle to break down (such as in the case of the Charon Relay, which became covered in ice)"
As for the supernova while copying this entry i spotted this one, Secondary Codex Entry - Planets and Locations, Sub-Entry: IIos,
"Four thousand years ago, the Mu relay was knocked out of position by a supernova and lost"
It doesnt say the relay was in a supernova, all we know is it was knocked out of position. Taking that into account perhaps the nova didnt occur in its system but the shockwave did hit it with enough force to move it and lets not forget the relay would keep moving till it hit something to stop it.
We dont know what strength the shockwave was upon impact. But because it survived we have to assume that the relay was far enough away to survive. Certainly people need to stop thinking the relay was next to the star when it went nova.
