FFS people there will NOT be a trial! First off, Shepard says in Arrival that he will show up 'once everything is over', and once everything is over everyone will either declare him a hero or be dead. Nobody is going to care about a bunch of Batarians anymore, and I find it hard to believe anyone cares enough in the first place.

And most importantly, Arrival is not "canon"! This is not something necessary for ME 3, and for those who did not play Arrival but did play ME 2, it would be completely confusing to somehow end up in a trial for something the player doesn't even remember doing. It can't be something that happens in-between games either because you ARE Shepard, you play all the big moments, and for them to pretend something like that happened between games for those who don't buy Arrival are going to be going ballistic.

It would be very easy to just state in the opening scenes of ME3 what Shepard did in Arrival.  They could even show a cutscene.

But again, it isn't fair for people who didn't play Arrival to have missed such an important part of the story.  At most we might get an angry Batarian NPC mention it.

This isn't comparable to Liara becoming the Shadow Broker either.  Liara being the Shadow Broker is most likely "canon", but not something Shepard had to be involved in as they could explain it easily by saying Liara took down the Broker without Shepard and get people who didn't play LOTSB caught up within 30 seconds.

At this point, if you haven't played the first two games then yes you're going to miss out.  Same with the DLC. Should be as simple as that.  Arrival is very linear.  A cutscene would more than suffice to fill people in so they know what is happening.   The trial is almost certainly going to end with you walking away so it won't really matter except for people who want continuity, the same people who buy the DLC.  Hackett made it as clear as possible without some developer coming in with signs waving, "ME3 starts on Earth", that you will be going to Earth.

The first two games though are not the same as the DLC.  So far, with the exception of LOTSB, none of the DLC's in either game have had any big impact on any games or seem like they will have any impact.  Again the player is Shepard, so to have a flashback to something a casual non-DLC playing Shepard did but actually didn't do is going to leave them scratching their heads.  Besides, none of the options Shep says at the end of Arrival suggests he's going to Earth until after the Reaper threat is dealt with.

Silly question, but is there meant to be an incredibly long wait just after you've released the doctor? Just freed her, she's gone off to "hack our way out" with me protecting her. I've managed to shut a door, defeat a few groups of enemies and now I'm...doing nothing. Though the door I've just shut appears to be being cut open with a blow torch...very very very very slowly.

Another bunch of enemies should spawn at the other end of the area. Perhaps you need to head in that direction in order to prompt them into appearing?

Wondered all over, eventually discovered that an enemy I had used biotic-charge on had disappeared off the edge of a platform but had glitched so he was running mid-air. Re-loaded the game and it's all fine. First bug I've found in ME2 so I can't complain =]

He says after his mission was done.  That pretty much meant the Collectors.  It was a way of allowing people to do the DLC before the suicide mission.  Again the DLC isn't that complicated and anything that needed to be discussed could be done in a multitude of ways, movies and tons of other mediums do this all the time.  I can sum up the DLC is one sentence.  Shepard blew up a Mass Effect relay preventing the Reapers from coming through and inadvertenly killed 300,000 batarians, which is why he's on trial.  If someone is straching their head trying to figure that out then they have no business playing any sort of game.

They are going to use this.  They wouldn't have mentioned it otherwise.  Once you show the loaded gun, you have to use it.

Anyone get the covert action achievement? I didn't. How do you get it?

Also how many upgrades were in this? I found 2. Heavy weapon ammo and skin.

To get the Covert ops achievement, you must remain undetected, y you just need to shut down all detection lasers and don't alert the security guards, this is fairly simple as most of them will only notice you when you are like 1 feet from them.

My purple eyes came back with this DLC! They seemed like they went from purple in ME1 to sort of blue in ME2. They were definitely purple in this DLC though. Yay!

after i played arrival , i got somehow a bad feeling....sacrificing an entire system as paragon then shepard got not much to say about just it was necessary.... the level design and enemy ai was a bit different too, i guess they tried new approaches but with the clunky me cover system its soimetimes frustrating (on insanity)

and how the story goes...well i dont see much logic in it, rushed and forced into the situation , they could have come with a better idea ( breakout for example)

4/10

I;m a little bit confused, sorry if this has been answered.

The relay they were going to go through, I understand that Soveriegn went through the Citadel relay due to it being the center etc, what was special about this one? Was it like a back-up?

Sorry for sounding dumb...

I liked the reference to Jon Grissom in one of the planet descriptions in the systen [Viper Nebula]. Anyone notice? :]

About the timer-zero cutscene:

I know right. :|

By the way, did anyone see or manage to make out/ID Tali in the video?

Slightly off on a tangent, but surely I can't have been the only one who laughed at the option to take over the mech being "Assume Control"...?

Nope! I lolled. :]

Overall, not LOTSB standard [this is probably most everyone's opinion], but I definitely enjoyed it; I enjoyed the combat and thought the Project base was a neat environment.

It'd be pretty cool if Mass Effect 3 did start in a courtroom, purely for the whole dialouge tree it'd bring :D

that could be great for a ending come to think of it. imagine defeating the reapers and  you must go to trial for the choice  you made about the batarian relay. paragon option can show shepard  free of all charges and gets awarded a medal, renegade i can see the council give shepard a life sentice regardless his acomplishments he did in all 3 games

Or maybe a "YOU'LL  NEVER  TAKE  ME  ALIVE" option.  Hail of bullets.  Dead Shep.

=]

Either would be great. I don't think you should get a happy ending after murdering countless people, committing genocide and being and overall jerk.

It would be just as easy to say Shepard was on trial for terrorist activities(Cerberus), then for those who did do Arrival, specify on a charge of the deaths of over 300,000 batarians. Horizon could be considered a Terrorist act, the fact that you essentially went awhol. I think the only thing that needs to actually be accounted for is that you were connected to Cerberus.

I think LOTSB was better because their were 2 bosses you had to fight. Arrival had none but it was a solid DLC

Thanks, I had a total brain fart with that. Moved the boxes around but didn't think to look behind them. Kind of should have figured there was a point to the exercise... <_<

I think that the character that is imported from ME2 without playing Arrival will be one trial for working with Cerberus. That would be the best excuse.

What were you expecting? It's a prelude to another game. How can their be a conclusion when something is about to start?
