I've read that the Widow Sniper is available even for Sentinel's on their second playthrough (with an ME2 import). Is that only true if also picked up the sniper rifle training on my first playthrough as Sentinel or doesn't it matter?

Not true.

Widow is available only to Soldier and Infiltrator.

Though you can add any weapon to any class with some commands / .ini tweaks.

Not even for the second playthrough if I reimport my ME2 sentinel?

Widow is only available to classes that start off with sniper training at the beginning which are Soldier and Infiltrator. A Sentinel can choose any weapon training at the Collector ship such as snipers however can't access the higher tier weapons (Widow, Revenant or Claymore).

On a NG+ your bonus weapon training stays with you however you can't choose any new weapon training when you get the collector vessel again, as it doesn't present you with a choice. So unless you're willing to mod; your Sentinel won't get a Widow I'm afraid.

Sorry, untrue. As other posters have said, you either get training or the advanced weapon, but not both.

...But you could use the mantis SR as a sentinel and still get 1S/1K's if you optimize upgrades. I don't recommend using SR's for a Sentinel though. I prefer Assault Rifles and most people on the forums would say shotgun.

sniper rifles on sentinels were awesome in ME1, but tech armor really forces a sentinel to get in the enemies grill.

but i agree with effected. the mantis works pretty good to. im not so sure its no worse then the viper.

Of course if you're on PC, you could always edit the files a bit.
