Okay I know her quest in Act 3 is bugged in all sorts of ways, but I'm wondering if anyone understands what happens to the Eluvian? My first play through I friended and supported Merrill. At the completion of her quest she's all heart broken at home (even though I got this cut scene right after I got the quest) and so I tell her all the friendly/romance options and poof the Eluvian disappears, she never gets mad or throws a rock at it or anything, just POOF! Gone.
My second play through I got the final cut scene before I got the quest info *shakes angry fist at BioWare* and this time the Eluvian disappeared right away. Merrill at times just talked to the corner of her home.
Anyways I'm wondering if anyone got a non-bugged (or as few bugs as possible) ending to this quest that explains either where the Eluvian went, if she broke it was there a line or animation of it, or if its supposed to appear at the Hawke estate if you romanced her.

If you're her friend, she keeps the mirror. If you're her rival, she destroys it.
It stays in the alienage. She doesn't want it at Hawke's place.

Alright I guess I'm going to have to wait for a patch for this quest or something. All I got was a brief bit of dialog where she asks about why this all happens, I give the friendly/romance responses, and then poof the mirror is gone with no talk of whether she's keeping or destroying it.Maria Caliban wrote...

The patch wont change that scene. If your on the friend path, she just leaves the mirror there.
If your on the rival path then during the scene she breaks the mirror again.

The problem is I'm on the full friendship path and Merrill says nothing about the mirror and then poof it's gone.Avissel wrote...

Yeah. That's supposed to be fixed with the next patch.

Did you turn her request down when she asks you to retrieve the arulin'holm? If you did, then she should be able to destroy the eluvian. She'll be furious with you and tells you to get out of her house. I'm not sure if her ability to destroy the eluvian is dependent on a rivalry/friendship path though. Regardless, the demon she's making a pact with will always confront her with or without the eluvian.

Yeah....thats how the scene works out in the frindship version.
I think it's a bug that the mirror vanishs, but she never mention getting rid of it.
In the rival version she decides you were right and that her use of blood magic and obsession with the mirror caused everything, so she breaks it.

To me like Leliana's mental crisis it seems to be half dozen of one and six of other.
Leliana liked both her life as a bard and in the Chantry (Even if in the first she got scared and the second she got bored) becoming a seeker makes sense for her, once she has some time to think about it.
Merrill was probably not truly analysing the risks, but at the same time, she had probably been isolated. Not only because she was the First but because she was the remaining one of the three. She was going to get blamed a lot any way.
"This connected to an ancient Elven city If I repair it, it'll be worth the risk."
"What you're doing is too dangerous. Pride demons are very subtle."
Both have points. I always felt that Merrill was a cuter Jowan. You can't quite tell her true motivations. But both are brilliant and incredibly stupid at the same time.

I haven't tried the rival version yet simply because I'm trying to figure out what's broken and what's not. That said my Mage-Hawke have no troubles letting Merrill go through with her plan. Warrior-Hawke is cautious (explored other dialog options) but in the end trusts her. She trusts Hawke almost unconditionally, why can't he do the same?
